BU Women- Gabi Haack out for season with ACL tear

The 1-0 Bradley women play Upper Iowa (1-1) Monday at 6:30 pm in the Renaissance Coliseum.
Last season's leading scorer for UIU was Lydia Haack, the younger sister of Bradley's Gabi Haack. She is a sophomore this season.
Gabi needs just 26 points to become Bradley's all time leading scorer-

I was thinking the same thing. Gabi is a coach on the floor along with Tatum. They are bringing the new players along at a nice pace. When Gabi needs to score she will but is not afraid to let the other ladies get their points. If you haven't seen this team play I would encourage you to come check them out. They can shoot, rebound and play Defense and they are physical..

BU Women's basketball star Gabi Haack suffered a serious left knee injury in their last game Saturday against ISU. Gabi suffered the injury in the 2nd half of the game, and tests have revealed a torn left ACL (a critically important ligament stabilizing the knee joint).
Gabi will require surgery, and will not play again this season. It also means her career at Bradley is finished. Gabi returned this season for a 5th and final season of eligibility under the NCAA's ruling last year granting players an extra season. She was leading this year's team in scoring with an average of 17.1 ppg, and finishes her Bradley career as the all-time leading scorer at Bradley with a total of 1,811 career points.

I was watching this game and sure feared this was the outcome. This is so sad- she worked so hard throughout her career. I can’t think of another true Bradley great forced to end their career with a similar career ending injury. Probably our greatest womens player and should be recognized as such.

I agree. Bradley has been lucky with very few such ACL injuries in their women's program in recent years. Women athletes are several times more likely to suffer ACL teams in sports like basketball. And in an average season, over 100 Division I teams have at least one player out with an ACL.
