After Cockburn declared for the NBA Draft last spring, and before the NIL legislation happened, he apparently sold some of his Illinois uniforms and gear online. Then he withdrew from the draft and returned to Illinois for his junior season. There are now rumors that the NCAA is considering a suspension.

Only the NCAA would punish someone for doing something that wasn't prohibited when he did it (because he thought he wasn't coming back to college) and isn't prohibited now (because of NIL). You would think the NCAA would not want to punish players who decide to come back to school, particularly for something that can never happen again since the NIL change, but it's the NCAA so he'll probably get a massive suspension.
