ISU gets a verbal...

Very nice, he is a Daniel Ruffin like player.
I watched Simeon in two different games that were televised last season, and of course with all the talent Simeon had it was hard for Kenyon to get much playing time, but he did come off the bench and give them a boost.
Kenyon Smith is listed in the Rivals database, but listed as no stars, and isn't in the scout/Insider database.

He played behind a kid named Derrick Rose, so naturally he didn't play a lot. He will see a lot of playing time this year.
Here are the Simeon stats from last season prior to them reaching the Elite 8 in Peoria--
Kenyon Smith played in all of Simeon's first 30 games. He only averaged 4.5 ppg, and 2.1 apg in the limited time. But he did shoot 49% from 3-point range.

awesome!!!
Most Redbird fans knew this was coming pretty quickly as his recruitment was going very well and it's great to see the verbal from Kenyon. Looks like the hiring of Paris Parham is paying immediate dividends!!!!
In addition to Da Coach's above info, I'll add that he guarded Rose in practice every day for 3 years. Rose often praised Kenyon's defense and credited him for preparing him for games.
Robinson and Smith. Very nice start to the '08 class.Dinma Odiakosa 6'8 255......The Nigerian Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 37 points and 27 boards in 2 wins over Bradley. "Will Egolf is 6'9 and he had 4 rebounds. That's not good enough and he's not good enough"....Dick Versace 2/9/10

After Dyer and Slack graduate in 2008, they still will have Brandon Sampay, a juco transfer coming in this season, Mike Vandello, who is a little used 6'6" small forward who will be a senior in 2008, and Dinma Odiakosa, 6'8", who will be a junior in 2008. Everyone else will be guards. It seems likely to me Coach Jankovich will focus on another big man for next year.
They don't have their 2007-2008 roster posted yet.
Below is their 2006-2007 roster.
For big men -- they have Sampay coming in this year, and they have Jeremy Robinson, a 6'7" forward from Decatur Eisenhower committed for 2008.

I am pretty sure that is infact the correct spelling/pronounciation per his coach.Dinma Odiakosa 6'8 255......The Nigerian Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 37 points and 27 boards in 2 wins over Bradley. Then I am confused.
The story in the Sun Times which interviews Smith's coach spells it
"Keyon"
So does the story in the PJ Star
But the story in the Pantagraph spells it
"Kenyon", but they admit they never talked with Smith or his coach.
Of all the times I could find reference to Smith on the Web, those that spell his first name "Kenyon" predominate 3 or 4 to 1.
But the Sun Times, ilprepbullseye.com, and a few other places use "Keyon"
while Rivals, the Trib, and the official IHSA websie, which would have certainly gotten the spelling from Simeon, all use
"Kenyon".
