Andy Katz interview of Casey Alexander, Belmont's MBB HC, on the move to the MVC. Both seem very positive and excited about the move:

My first BU hoops game was on 12/30/1963. My dad took me to watch the Braves defeat Arizona 67-59. He helped me get Coach Orsborn's autograph before the game.

Although a flight or a shorter drive would be nice, a 7 hour drive is not bad. Might not want to drive to Nashville and back on the same day, but could drive down on one day and back the next.

Driving both ways might be the only “budget move.” Although Allegiant does fly PIA to Nashville for $34 each way, it only flies every 4 days. A one-way car rental costs around $450 due to a $300+ “drop fee”

Would be a good candidate for the return of the fan bus concept of yesteryear.

From what I'm hearing there is very little chance that Murray State joins the Valley. Might be a better chance of Wright State but only time will tell. Would love to see SLU join but little chance in that happening.

I have heard the Wright State rumor in the past, but I have also heard that Wright State inquired in 2017, but was told the Valley was not interested. Dayton lies too far out of the current MVC footprint. They are 600 miles from the Iowa schools and from Missouri State. There are better options.

In addition, Wright State is struggling financially with their athletic programs and have recently dropped three sports which put them several sports below the minimum to remain a Division I school-

The NCAA granted them a temporary waiver to remain Division I until 2022, even though they now only have 11 sports, well below the minimum 14 the NCAA requires. If they are unable to get back to 14 sports, they will be forced to drop down to Division II.-

As someone who lives in Nashville but grew up a huge BU fan in Peoria I am so excited about this announcement. Belmont is a great school (my son graduated from there) and brings a great program to the Valley. They have a nice arena that seats about 5000 and the school is very similar to Bradley in a lot of ways. Similar size, also private, and with a campus in the middle of town. Can't wait to see the Braves in town. Up until now the closest drive I had to a game was a 2 1/2 hour trip to Evansville.

Kentucky Sports Radio guy predicting "Murray State will be announced as a new member of the Missouri Valley Conference soon"

There are other rumors that this move is not quite so imminent. We'll see...
