Bradley Braves @BradleyBraves
Bradley Athletics lost a member of its family today as Ron Ferguson passed away at the age of 89. For the third time in five years, the Waterford Lancers captured a state championship with a 6-3 win over Granby in the Class M state title game on Sunday at West Haven.
Thanks for posting, coach and KillerB. After reading the above mentioned article it all make sense to me now. I had an "incident" with him in the late 1980's. I had driven down from Naperville for a huge rivalry game against hated rival Illinois State at Carver Arena. I made a customized sweatshirt that said "ILLINOIS STATE SUCKS". Proudly wearing the shirt prior to the game I was walking up the aisle near mid-court collecting high-fives and other positive reactions from other Bradley fans when Ron Ferguson approached me and bit my head off. He was furious at me... explaining how classless it was for me to wear such a shirt. He insisted that I turn the shirt inside-out. Knowing his history with, and positive sentiments towards Illinois State- I now get why he was so sensitive. I hung out at the fieldhouse a lot between 1978 and 1982 hoping to see the players practice. Mr. Ferguson was always around... very dedicated man.
Another old timer that only a few of us knew or will recall...
