Cannon averaged 19.7 pppg and 9.3 rpg in 2020-21 for Columbia State Community College, a Division I junior college in Columbia, Tennessee. She averaged 17.0 ppg as a freshman in 2019-20. She was the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association Player of the Year, and shot 50 percent from the field and 37 percent from three-point range in 2020-21. Cannon was also voted to the all-conference team twice in 2 years. including first-team honors in 2020-21 after second-team all-league honors as a freshman.

Cannon joins 2 other transfers who have signed this spring-
Daija Powell- a transfer from Texas Tech, where she spent her freshman season this past year-

In addition, Bradley Head Coach signed 5 high school players back in the fall signing period, making Coach Gorski's 2021 recruiting class her largest ever, and maybe, the most talented.-
Caroline Waite- 5'4" point guard from Ames HS, Ames, Iowa-

Sasha Koenig- 5'5" guard from West Branch HS, West Branch, Iowa-

Nika Dorsey- 5'10" left handed shooting guard from Renaissance HS, Detroit, Michigan

The Bradley team lost 3 graduating seniors from last season's MVC Championship team, Nyjah White, Emily Marsh and Uche Ufochukwu.
They also lost 2 players who transferred, junior Lasha Petree (transferred to Rutgers) and sophomore Mahri Petree (transferred to Texas El Paso).
However, graduating senior Gabi Haack, Bradley's leader in minutes played (34.3 mpg), second-leading scorer (16.5 ppg), leader in rebounding (6.8 rpg), and leader in 3-point baskets (77), will return for an extra season next year.

Here is the roster projection for the 2021-22 season-

It's shaping up to be a very special year for the ladies... Lasha who?

Still don't understand why Lasha left with just one season to go. She was part of a winning program that was heading in the right direction (first ever NCAA bid). Imagine how good we could have been next season.

With the NCAA giving everyone an extra year of eligibility Lasha can actually play 2 more years of university basketball.

Lasha was forcing a lot of shots and had a number of poor shooting games last season. Some examples- she was 6-21 and 0-7 from three at Drake, 4-14 and 1-9 from three vs. Loyola, 3-18, and 1-11 from three at Illinois State, and there were others. Coach Gorski wanted her to adjust her game a little. Coach Gorski took her out of the starting lineup for the second of two games at Valparaiso after she had taken 28 shots in the first game at Valpo (she went 11-28 ) in a game that Bradley probably should have won, but instead lost 71-66. She also didn't start the final regular season game at home against Indiana State.
There were dynamics that developed that apparently altered the long-time relationship between the Petree family and Coach Gorski. Those things happen a lot in college athletics. Still, I spoke with Coach Gorski after the season, and she seemed surprised that the Petree sisters decided to leave Bradley and seek a transfer.

I wish Lasha and Mahri success. Rutgers, where Lasha transferred, is a winning program (3rd in the Big Ten, and finished ranked #21) with a lot of other quality players who like to shoot the ball. There is no way Lasha will get 15-20 shots per game there like she did at Bradley. UTEP, where Mahri transferred had a pretty good season, too (17-8, 13-5 in CUSA) . With the extra year of eligiblity, both schools have most of their players returning, so there is no guarantee either will start or play as much as they did at Bradley.

Thanks so much coach. You always have the inside scoop. Is it me or does it seem like the younger generation is more selfish (and impatient) than ever??

The word "selfish" is a bit strong, but maybe it is appropriate. Maybe they just want to play where they are happier.
Just looking at the number of transfers that happen every year shows that college athletes, especially in basketball, seem impatient, and more interested in their own stats and playing time, rather than team success, than was the case just a few years ago.
This year is an anomaly with the new NCAA rule changes regarding transfers and eligibility, and it resulted in over 1,600 D1 transfers. But even in 2019 and 2020 there were about 1,000 transfers per year. Then consider that there are 350 Division I schools and 13 scholarships per team, so that is about 4,500 total Division I college basketball scholarships. So the 1000 transfers in 2019 & 2020 averaged to about 3 on every D1 teams' roster who transferred each of the last couple years, and this year the average is almost 5 transfers per team.

I'd like to see someone do a survey and try to find out what percentage of athletes who transfer feel they made the right choice and were happier.

Lasha was an exceptional player but I noticed she was forcing a lot of shots this year. I often wondered of Coach Gorski was encouraging that or if LP was ignoring the coach on some occasions and doing things on her own. Then, as Da Coach noted, she got benched a couple of times towards the end of the season.and seemed to not be as happy and less of a team player. I also wonder if Gabi coming back had anything to do with the sisters leaving. Lasha would have ended up as BU's all time leading scorer if she stayed. It looks like that honor will go to Gabi and she deserves it. She understands there is no "I" in "team".
