  • Illinois State gets transfer from Oregon

This was rumored a couple months ago, but now is official--

    Thread from 6/13/07--

Chamberlain Oguchi has left University of Oregon after 3 years and is transferring to ISU. He will sit out a year and have just 1 season of eligilibity left. He is a wing guard who averaged just 4.8 ppg last season for the 15-16 Oregon Ducks. He was just 31% overall on FGs and 25% on 3-pointers. He was even worse in PAC 10 games 30% and 22%.
Just what ISU seems to need, another poor shooter.

Article from today's Eugene Oregon Register-Guard newspaper--

It looks like he will be getting the scholarship that was pegged for Bobby Hill.

Isn't this the guy who underachieved big time at Oregon and was in the coach's doghouse?

Some would say JC underachieved his soph season but came back and had a pretty good year last year. This kid averaged 21 during a conference tourney. I think he'll do well at ISU

Ok, but apologies in advance if it is a little off topic
I think I know why Chamberlain got run out of Oregon.
It's not because of his career 30% 3-point shooting, it's because Oregon has this guy>

And of course anyone with a knowledge of history knows that
Churchill and Chamberlain could never get along!
So following the historic pattern Chamberlain resigns!

So I guess it is safe to say that this is a "riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma".

In 2008 when Oguchi plays his only year at ISU, he will be competing at 2-guard with
Osiris Eldridge who will be a junior, Brandon Holtz who will be a senior, Sead Odzic, another transfer who will be a junior, and Emmanual Holloway who calls himself a combo guard and who will be a senior.
Someone is going to be disappointed in PT.

In alot offenses these days, the 2 guard position and the small forward position are pretty interchangeable.

Eldridge for instance played most of the season at the 3. With Dom Johnson at the 2.

So basically the guys listed above will be sharing time at the 2 and the 3.

And it wouldn't surprise me if Holloway ends up at PG next season.

So it's Eldridge, Oguchi, Holtz, and Odzic for 2 positions----small forward and shooting guard. (all 4 players are 6'3 and above too, so they can guard most MVC small forwards.)

Hopefully Bobby Hill will be in the mix too.

                  That's more than Manageable.
