TY Johnson, a senior at DePaul Prep in Chicago and a 2021 Loyola point guard recruit was injured in a drive-by shooting in the Englewood neighborhood on the south side of Chicago. He was outside his family's apartment talking to a couple girls in a car when shots were fired at them from a passing car. Also injured was one of the girls, TaKiya Howard, a basketball star at De La Salle Institute in Chicago and a Murray State commit. Police reported that at least 19 shots were fired. The injury to Johnson was not serious and he was treated at a hospital and released. Howard was shot in the neck and remains hospitalized..
