Just asking. Are we setting ourselves up for a letdown? We really have high expectations....saying we can't wait for the battles with him against the two best big men in the MVC. Is that "fair" to put those or HAVE those expectations?

I'm glad he's here as I think we ALL are. He sounds like he'll be a solid addition to this team. I just hope we aren't putting unreal expectations on this ONE guy.

I think it's too soon to tell. Guys come into schools all over the country and we find out eventually that they are over-hyped, but on the other hand there are guys like Will who no one, except maybe our coaching staff, knew about. I think RA will develop into a great player for BU but he will need time to develop and learn the system.

Ok - so what are the expectations for him?

        20 - 10?
        15 - 8?
        12 - 6?

        How many minutes per game?

For me if he can provide numbers similar to ZA with fewer fouls he'll be a huge hit.

If he does 20-10 he will be first team all valley, newcomer of the year and player of the year. I think we would also win the valley. That would be the most amazing thing ever!

15-8 would also be amazing and probably get him new comer of the year, second team all vallyey

I would take 10-8, with above average D and be giddy
            Can we start winning soon?

Austin's importance is being on the court. We were undersized last year, and had no interior depth. The more capable bodies we have down there, the better, more physical defense we can play. We'll also be able to rebound much better, which ultimately keys our offense. Our strength was, and will remain, our backcourt. But we were kept out of the dance because of our size. Hopefully, with guys like Collins and Austin in the fold, that won't be the case.

Although I am very excited about getting Austin on campus I am more excited about the combination of Collins and Austin. I think the two of them give you so many possibilities on defense. Also with the two of them you have players that are true centers and you are not asking a PF to try and play the middle. Give me 8 points and 7 rebounds from Austin, 5 points 7 rebounds and 3 block shots from Collins and we are MVC champs......

                    Rashad

I think you need to consider the depth with Sam Singh!!A player who knows the system and should be a very driven young man!!

I will be happy with 10-8 this year. Next year I hope for the 15-10.

These are some pretty lofty numbers you guys are throwing around. 15 and 10? Who's the last guy to average 15-10 for BU? I'd be surprised if even POB averaged that his sophomore year. I don't care so much about their numbers as long as Austin, Collins, Sam, and Salley? can defend the post and not allow the second chance points that killed us last year. Also, isn't Theron Wilson supposed to be a pretty good rebounder for his position? I hope I'm wrong on the low side, but I'd expect somewhere around 8 and 6 from Austin his junior year.
According to NCAA.org only the following players averaged 10 rebounds per game last year:

                          1 Rashad Jones-Jennings, Ark.-Little Rock Sr. 6-8 F 30 392 13.1
                          2 Chris Holm, Vermont Sr. 6-11 C 33 401 12.2
                          3 Kentrell Gransberry, South Fla. Jr. 6-9 C 23 263 11.4
                          4 Kevin Durant, Texas Fr. 6-9 F 35 390 11.1
                          5 Nick Fazekas, Nevada Sr. 6-11 F 32 354 11.1
                          6 Obie Nwadike, Central Conn. St. Sr. 6-4 F 31 331 10.7
                          7 Ryvon Covile, Detroit Sr. 6-9 C 30 317 10.6
                          8 Glen Davis, LSU Jr. 6-9 F 29 303 10.4
                          9 Jason Smith, Colorado St. Jr. 7-0 F 30 304 10.1
                          10 Jason Thompson, Rider Jr. 6-10 F 31 312 10.1

The last number in each line is the rebounds per game, so even if all these guys averaged better than 15 pts per game, that's a total of 10 guys in all of division 1 that could have averaged 15 and 10 last year. Notice Greg Oden didn't even accomplish 15 and 10. Forget All-MVC, if Austin put up 15 and 10 against the competition we will be playing, he'd get some All American votes.
