Ya, but he makes less than a three a game basically, so while the percentages are not bad I still don’t see a guy that is going to be one of our marksmen. I’d like to have 3 reliable shooters from outside. Mast, maybe Ville (but that’s a maybe based on last year), and we need one more. Hopefully the new guys like Howell, Robert’s, Ekono, even Leons based on his numbers, will keep defenses honest from there and put up decent numbers and maybe make about a three a game. Boya, Hannah, and Henry are non-factors out there. Jashon can make a wide open one occasionally, but shoots too slow otherwise, and Kent’s shot didn’t look near as good as advertised last year so we will see.

I really like the defense, seemingly the character, and the athleticism. I love the new guys’ potential, but I still prefer another shooter to make me feel better.

Seeing as how competing this upcoming season might be tough with so many players coming back, do you lean towards an older player to transfer in, or look for a hs senior for the last available scholarship?

I want a transfer guard who shoots really well and is also a one on one scorer. Someone like Jalen Coleman-Lands. We’ve only got three guards on the roster right now. Howell, who is basically a d2 player with only 16 d1 games; roberts, a Juco transfer; and Hickman, a true freshman. I don’t like having that much lack of d1 inexperience for the point guard position.

I have really high hopes for Ekono, but I see him being used as a wing that handles a lot. Best case scenario he’s our version of lebron James, a defensive sf and offensive pg. Maybe we’ll see that some this year but he’ll probably have a few hiccups this year. A steady hand at the guard spot who can do a Darrell Brown impression is what the team needed last year and this coming year too.

The more experienced the better, but obviously an experienced shooter is wanted by everyone. So I want the best shooter possible first and foremost so that they’ll at least be ready to go next year when we should be really good if everything works out and we build experience this year.

Although a freshman would give us nice balance of at least three in each class right now.

I am pretty sure the coaching staff agrees with you.

Question for coach... Did we miss out on the top shooting guard mentioned on a previous thread?

I think an argument against adding another freshman could be made. With the transfer rule change, gotta get the most contributions now. Class balance is way more difficult to manage than it used to be.

Talent-wise I think this class is the best of any in the Wardle era...of course I can see this after we got the top JUCO stud!

I don't think so. I believe the coaches have landed their top targets, so far.
