Let's just hope we can land someone who can fill a need.
Thanks Coach. Agreed. A 7 footer that can't move isn't better than a 6'10" that can. If we could get a guy with length that listens to the coaches like Bar, I think we'd be well off. Got my fingers crossed!

7 footers don't look good on the bench. seen far too much of that in my BU fandom.

After Leon's I'm starting to have high Hope's for what I see as a complete class of athletes we normally do not get. Looking like it could be Wardle and staffs top class yet at BU!

This looks like possibly the most athletic team we've had since the Les years. I'm anxious to see what these kids can do together.

Gotta hand it to Wardle and staff. I was really pessimistic about the near future when things collapsed towards the end of the season and mass exodus. Very hard for a mid-major coming off a losing season to fill so many spots in one class. But it looks like we are one piece away from pulling off the unlikely feat. Leons is a huge get for the frontcourt, two nice ball handlers in Roberts and Howell, a versatile 6' 7 guy that handles and passes the ball like a PG in Ekono, and a sharpshooter in Connor Hickman. Final piece must be a deadly shooter to play the 2nd guard position IMHO.

I really like this team. With the guys they have coming back and the new players joining them, I think this team could be something special. On top of that it looks like we will get to start seeing them playing at the Civic Center in front of a full crowd so it comes at a good time

I will be interested in seeing how Hannah responds to the Leons signing. Will he welcome the competition and respond by elevating his game, or will he look to enter the transfer portal? I hope he chooses the first option and stays.

The coaches see Leons as a 5 and sometimes 4, and Hannah as a 3 or occasional 4. There should be playing time for both of them. But nothing is guaranteed, and with the depth this team will have, we shouldn't be surprised if someone does look elsewhere for playing time.

I am starting to have really high hopes for the season ahead with the way the roster is coming together and the progression we could see from our returners. I just hope I don't get my hopes up too much and get let down again.

There should be a very clear top 4 -- LU, MSU, Drake & UNI. After that you've probably got a middle pack of BU, SIU & ISU blue followed by a clear pack of bottom-dwellers in Valp, EU & ISU red. Of course in the Valley you just never know.

So our roster is getting almost set, who do we think will be starters?

I am thinking it will be Mast, Leons, Henry, Roberts, and Howell. Throw in some heavy minutes off the bench from Ville, Hannah, and Boya. I am not really sure where Hickman, Ekono, Kent, or Linke will fit in but one or two of them will probably break into the standard rotation. We still have one scholarship spot left, I would like for us to get a pure shooter. Our 3P% last year was rather poor, I think we really missed having NK and DB being able to knock down shots. Hopefully Ville can focus more on shooting now that we have some more guard depth.

I would guess that Ville starts, otherwise, there may not be enough of a perimeter shooting threat to keep defenses honest.

I can't imagine the lineup not including Boya, Ville, Henry, and Mast. I think the only spot up for debate to start the season would be point guard, but then I'm wrong all the time so take that for what it's worth.

That’s my one concern is shooting. I keep hearing we are going to get a shooter but now Wardle says July they may wait til, so there doesn’t seem to be a person in mind.

I love Leons and a 6’7” potential PG, but if Ville doesn’t majorly develop this team still can’t shoot from the guard spot (and really outside of Mast), which is maybe the most important part of the college game. Maybe Hickman is that good of a shooter but he’s just a freshman.

Mikey Howell shot 39% from the arc in his UCSD career, though last year was his worst since his frosh campaign. Was it caused by the D1 transition and (probably) better defense? I'd guess to an extent it was. At least he has the ability though.
