Thought I would send this out to see if anyone else is suffering from basketball fever? I can't wait for the season to start!!

I can hardly wait as this years team should be very interesting with the different type of players that are on it; we should be able to hold are own on the boards and it appears we have plenty of good shooters so I am hoping to see us cut down the nets in St.Louis this season.

I can't wait Naptown! Some sports-nuts will tell ya to settle down, we have 2 sports to get through first (MLB and NFL) before getting fired up about college hoops but not me.

I think we need DC to post a sticky with his countdown link marking the start of the season.

Here's a question, would you guys rather take the tournament title or the regular season title, for me it's tough. I'd take more pride in the season title, but I want the auto-bid in the end.

No doubt about it for me, the tourney title. After being in STL the last two years and watching SIU rush the court in front of us two years ago, there's nothing more I want from my college time at BU then to rush the court in STL to celebrate the Valley title.

            I prefer both, but....

Give me the lumps and bumps of the season and a top 4 finish. Then sweep St Louis! I don't wanna spend a week hearing about how #8 in the Big East deserves a bid over the #1 MVC from all the mouthpieces.

No MVC regular season champion has ever been left out of the dance. I assume that will hold true this year, in which case give me the regular season championship. With a nice road win at SIU please.
              Can we start winning soon?

Agreed when it comes to looking at the MVC recently.

                But...

                Bradley
                13-3 MVC Record

That has no chance of happening again. Ill put my stock in the last 20 years

There have been other MVC regular season champions who were left out of the NIT. Beside the 1982 Bradley team, it has happened twice to Southern Illinois, and within the last 20 years.

1990- SIU won the regular season title outright, and lost the MVC tournament to Illinois State in Redbird Arena. That was the last tournament to be held on campus sites, as it contributed to SIU getting relegated to the NIT that year.
1992- In the 2nd year of the MVC tournament in St. Louis, SIU tied with ISU for the regular season title, but Missouri State won the MVC Tournament. SIU again played in the NIT.

There may be others, but these are the 2 I can remember.

Now that the MVC is getting some "modest" respect from the media, the regular season champ will get a bid to the dance no matter how they do in the tournament. The MVC is getting, or has gotten to, the pont where they can't be ignored anymore.

Also, the number of teams in the field has expanded.

I am not greedy so I will take both but if I can only have a choice of one then give me tournament any day of the week. That and a win at both C & SIU along w/ 22+ wins would make for a great season. I believe that would put DR & JC among the players w/ the most wins in their college careers at BU and may even make them #1 in wins at BU for their careers

Good point, MR.....from 48 to 64/65 teams. With those numbers, what happened in 81-82 would not happen today.
