The MVC Player of the Year Cameron Krutwig has decided to decline the extra year of eligibility, and leave Loyola and seek professional playing opportunities. He says he will put his name in the NBA Draft, but if that doesn't work out, he will look for opportunities in Europe or elsewhere.

IMO, Loyola is no longer the clear favorite and this makes the MVC a much more interesting competition next season.

From a competitive standpoint I am glad we don’t have to compete against him again. However, I am on the other hand sorry to see him leave the valley. He is an impressive, unique player who made a great impact on the Valley throughout his career. Hope he does well wherever he goes next. He earned all of our respect and admiration-not someone who would have caught the eye of the P5 out of high school but who repeatedly showed them what they had missed throughout his career.

Krutwig is a throwback to the old time type of low post player who can score inside, and is an outstanding passer who can find open players elsewhere on the court. He helped make slightly above average teammates Clayton Custer and Marques Townes into MVC Players of the Year. He is a highly intelligent player with incredible footwork and moves that allow him to get shots off even against bigger players and against double-teams. For a big man, he is a "below-the-rim" player, who is still highly effective inside. There are not many college players like him any more. And he is satisfied not to feel like drifting away from the basket and trying to be a 3-point shooter like most big men do today. He has dominated the MVC for 4 years like Doug McDermott did, but without being a perimeter scorer like McDermott. I wish him luck, though honestly, I don't see him being drafted or making an NBA roster because of his lack of jumping ability. I think he can be effective as a pro overseas, though I thought he might try to move to Oklahoma and join up with Porter Moser for one final year to hone his game against higher-level big men in the Big 12. And I still wonder if that might turn out to be a possibility.

I disagree. They have some outstanding recruits and transfers coming in, with a few strong returning players, so I think they will still be the cream of the MVC.

I'm not surprised with Moser moving on as well, I imagine that probably influenced his decision. I don't see him doing much in the NBA but he could probably do fairly well overseas. He did well in college because he was able to play smarter than the more athletic guys, the level of athleticism is just so much higher in the NBA. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up getting into coaching down the road.

After attending pre-draft combines and working out for NBA teams, Cameron Krutwig is not waiting to see if he gets drafted in the upcoming NBA Draft. Today, he signed a 2-year deal with the Telenet Giants of Antwerp in the Belgian Euromillions League, the top pro league in Belgium.

Cameron played college basketball for the Loyola Ramblers of the Loyola University of Chicago (NCAA Dl) , where he averaged 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists last season.

The 2m06 center is a versatile player with a high basketball IQ . He will be able to quickly adapt to European basketball. Cameron is strong in the post , has excellent passing ability and a good mentality and attitude. A worker we can count on in the coming seasons!
