  • Lasha Petree & Mahri Petree enter transfer portal with intent to leave BU

The Bradley women's team just added a couple quality players-
    https://www.bradleyfans.com/forum/sp...nts#post497908

But the bad news is that 2 of the top players from the current team have entered the transfer portal and intend to leave Bradley-
    >>Junior Lasha Petree, the team's leading scorer who averaged 18.0 ppg and 3.8 rpg this past season, and has been a 1st team All-MVC pick the last 2 seasons; she also lead the team in steals (40) and blocked shots (63).
    AND
    >> Sophomore Mahri Petree, the team's 5th leading scorer, who averaged 7.2 ppg, 3.7 rpg, and she was a member of the MVC All-Freshman team in 2019-20

The Petree sisters leaving will be a big loss for Bradley.

Bradley also has 5 freshman recruits for the 2021-22 season coming in-

Sept. 16, 2019- Caroline Waite- 5'4" point guard from Ames HS, Ames, Iowa-

Sept. 28, 2019- Sasha Koenig- 5'5" guard from West Branch HS, West Branch, Iowa-

Oct. 8, 2019- Abby Draper- 6'1" forward from Waverly-Shell Rock (Iowa)-

Oct. 12, 2019 - Callie Ziebell- 6'2" forward from Sparta High School in Sparta, Wisconsin

April 6, 2020- Nika Dorsey- 5'10" left handed shooting guard from Renaissance HS, Detroit, Michigan

All 5 recruits have had outstanding high school careers-

That's a shame. She certainly would have ended up as BU's all time leading scorer. And would have been a leading candidate for MVC POY. But after her great game against Texas in the NCAA tournament I'm sure a lot of birdies started chirping in her ears.

Why, why, why??? I just don't understand. Why would a star that's having a great career want to leave a winning program? And Bradley is a better school than most. And she is not good enough to make a living playing basketball. Hard to understand the mindstate of this generation.

I agree!! If the NCAA is going to allow wide open transferring then they need to implement harsh, harsh penalties for tampering from other schools.

Great point. Seems like the only schools that get hit with harsh penalties are mid-majors, though. These rules are destroying the competitiveness of the NCAA, and every rule change they implement is geared toward strengthening the power conferences in my opinion.

That being said, it makes beating the power conference teams all the more sweeter when it happens, and Gonzaga has shown us that if you can get a perennial successful program, you can make it work. Still, if I were king of the world, the mid-majors would start up their own league and let the power conferences have their own so they can enjoy packing their season end tournament with all their power conference teams, just like they already do.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

This news really stinks, but can't say I'm surprised. I'm sure this will be a quick commitment.

keep dreaming. This is exactly what the P5 teams/NCAA want, MM teams scout and develop talent then they come pick up the most talented.

Unfortuntely I have to agree with you. It is pathetic and sad that the NCAA is supposed to set rules to make sure the Colleges are all on a level playing field when in fact they are doing just the opposite. What is more ironic and sad is nobody in a position of authority calls them out on it.

The Lady Braves may actually be a better team next year without the sisters... Addition by subtraction.

Has anyone heard if Mahri is following Lasha to Rutgers?

I would guess that this is a package deal. I can’t envision La’Sha going without Ma’re

                            Mahri could end up elsewhere.
