Coach Mo has never been out of work as a coach since he was hired as Joey Meyer's assistant in 1979 (except by choice for the 2 years after Bradley fired him in 2002, and was still paying him). He is well connected and very well respected for his coaching. I think he'll get other offers to coach somewhere. On the other hand, Jim is 66 years old, and he might want to take some time off.

Also, as noted in the Coaching Carousel thread, it's being reported that Loyola will name assistant coach Drew Valentine as their new head coach.

I believe this is a big part of a problem that effects the Missouri Valley ( as I am sure it does other conferences ). A coach makes a name for himself then one of the bigger schools swoops and offers 3 times the salary. When ever a coach leaves and they hire a new one I think it takes about 3 to 4 years to build program back up

I know it’s not a positive to see a successful coach leave the conference, but in this case I think it may actually not hurt that much. Yes, Loyola may take a slight step back, but I believe they’re still talented and promoting a head coach from within should help a persuade a few players to stay with the program. There are fans of Loyola who wanted to jump to a bigger conference and now I think those talks will die down with a new head coach. I wish Moser would have stayed and helped elevate the Valley to another level, but it’s tough to blame him for taking this job.

IMO as an athletic director from a power school I wouldn’t consider Moser. I’m not saying he will fail at OU, but considering the only success Moser has had as a coach was in a four year period and with many of the same players, in particular Krutwig, there is a high probably Moser’s success may have been a one time event.
I agree, I don't blame him for jumping on better opportunities when he is still a hot commodity. He has had a lot of recent success but that doesn't always translate to continued success that these power schools want. Archie Miller for example, he had some good teams at Dayton and then jumped to Indiana and did nothing impressive. I wish Moser the best of luck, but I won't be surprised if he doesn't get much accomplished there. I think he owes a lot of credit to Krutwig these past 4 years, having a player like that on the floor opens up a lot of coaching strategies I'm sure.

So far, the only source reporting any contract financial details about Porter Moser's deal is this article in Forbes online magazine that reports:
"Sources said Moser was offered a 6-year deal in the neighborhood of $2.5-3 million annually".
                  https://www.forbes.com/sites/adamzag...ew-head-coach/

Because Oklahoma University's finances are open to the public, we should know more precise details eventually. I'd guess the yearly salary is closer to $3 million, with opportunities to increase that with reasonable incentives. Oklahoma will have no problem meeting those financial obligations. As I posted earlier, Lon Kruger was getting over $3.5 million/year, and their football coach, Lincoln Riley, will earn over $8 million this year. Oklahoma's athletic department budget was about $160 million per year (before the pandemic hit). The total amount they allocated toward coaches' salaries was over $51 million.
                  https://www.si.com/college/oklahoma/...55.5%20million).

Also, one bit of news- it's reported that Moser will hire Northwestern assistant coach Emanuel Dildy as an assistant coach with him at Oklahoma.
