The Bradley women fell behind by 21 points in the 2nd quarter, then slowly fought back and played better. They are currently down 11, 59-48 near the end of the 3rd quarter. Lasha Petree has 28 points for BU. Go Braves! (game on ESPN2)

Congrats to the Braves for making the dance. Petree should be 1st team all American next season....soo good and gives her all. The 4th foul on her has me worried though.

5 minutes in the 4th and Texas gets 1st foul call? Little bit of a homer on the fouls IMO.....hang in there Braves!

The Braves couldn't get any closer than 11 in the 2nd half, then they seemed to run out of gas as Texas pulled back out to a 21 point lead and held on for the 81-62 win over Bradley. Lasha Petree finished with 33 points, and Gabi Haack had 16.

In their 1st NCAA tournament appearance the Braves played their hearts out but Texas was allowed to out physical BU and took advantage of it winning 81-62. Both teams started slow and appeared a little nervous then Texas scored the 1st 6 points. BU scored their 1st NCAA points on a Lasha Petree jumper with 6:15 left in the 1st quarter then they scored the next 5 tp get their only lead of the game at 7-6 with 4:11 left. Texas then scored the last 13 points of the quarter to go up 19-7 and a couple of trends developed. The refs allowed Texas to be overly aggressive on defense and it really disrupted BU's offense and the Longhorns kept getting offensive rebounds and putbacks. Bradley just could never get the lead under 10 the rest of the game as the lead went back and forth between 12 and 20. Bradley tried a different defense on Texas All American 6' 5" center Charli Collier by face guarding her the whole game, mostly with Emily Marsh. It did limit her shots but it did open up things for other players getting easy baskets. Petree and senior Gabi Haack got it going on offense in the 2nd quarter and BU scored 23 in the quarter but Texas scored 25 and led 44-30 at the half. Petree and Haack scored all but 2 of BU's 21 3rd quarter points but just couldn't get any closer as Texas led 65-51 after 3. Petree picked up her 4th foul, 2 of the 4 were not fouls, with 1:29 to go in the 3rd quarter and didn't come back in until 7:28 was left in the game. BU scored the 1st 2 of the quarter but that was as close as they could get. Petree was pretty darn awesome in this game as she scored a season high 33 points on 10-24 shooting, 3-8 from 3, and 10-11 from the FT line. She was also credited with 5 blocks and as much as she handled the ball she only had 2 turnovers. One of the best performances I've seen from any BU player in awhile. Haack ended her senior year as the #2 scorer of all time as she had 16 points on 6-14 shooting. She also had a team high 8 rebounds and 4 assists and just 1 turnover. I hope she comes back. Overall BU shot 21-53, Petree and Haack combined for 16-38, the rest of the team shot 5-15. Petree was 10-11 from the FT line, the rest of team was 5-11. BU got outrebounded 44-35 with Texas having 22 offensive and 22 defensive boards. Collier scored 23 points on 8-11 shooting and had 15 rebounds. Texas shot 27-69 overall, 7-20 from 3, and were 20-26 from the FT line. Very proud of the women's effort and I hope it's just a spring board into next season.

In watching this game and parts of others, the officiating on the women's side makes the MVC refs look like the cream of the crop.

Collier was allowed to do whatever she wanted. There was one rebound where she grabbed Marsh by the shoulders and threw her out of the way to get a rebound. Then a BU player was standing near her and got called for a foul.

Yes, she does. Here is a video from a few years ago. From the date, I'd guess he's an 8th grader now.

Collier is a great player, but she is protected by the refs as she is constantly fouling players. She really doesn't need to be overly aggressive. The Bradley women showed incredible restraint in not retaliating.
