  • Mason Madsen - possible Braves target

I have heard the Braves are after Mason Madsen who entered the portal a few days ago.
It looks like he was a 2-3 star recruit out of Minnesota last year. He is a 6'3" combo guard. He and his twin brother Gabe (6 '5" ) both played for the Beatcats and both are transferring.
It would appear Mason is the better player.

    He's #12 in white I believe

Gabe Madsen only played in 2 games for Cincinnati this season before opting out for the season. Mason Madsen did not opt out, and stayed on the roster the entire season. He was a key reserve who played in 15 games, and averaged 6.5 ppg. He missed the first 2 months of the season with an ankle injury. Gabe Madsen was a 32.2% shooter from the 3-point arc.
After helping Cincinnati reach the title game of the AAC tournament, freshman Mason Madsen plans to leave the men's basketball program. He played in the team's final 15 games.

The Madsen brothers are among 6 Cincinnati players who entered the Transfer Portal.

Bradley coaches liked the Madsen brothers, and offered both of them in the summer before their junior years at Mayo High School in Rochester, Minnesota-

Hearing Gabe may be the better prospect. He opted out of the season.
Mason is a very Valley capable player. The brothers apparently want to stay together, but could split.
Other Valley team's are probably in play.

Gabe Madsen, the 6'5" brother, was the higher scorer in high school, though they were similar players and their production was similar. He averaged 26.1 points, 8.4 rebounds and 5.0 assists while shooting 41.7 percent from 3-point range and 89.8 percent from the free-throw line as a senior in 2019-20. He scored a career total of 2,349 career points.
Mason Madsen, the 6'3" brother, averaged 19.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists while making 80 3-pointers and shooting 41.0 percent from beyond the arc and 92.3 percent from the free-throw line as a senior in 2019-20.
Gabe had a couple more high-major offers (Marquette, Minnesota, Iowa, Iowa State, VA Tech, along with many mid-majors) than Mason did (Cincinnati was probably his highest offer), but apparently they wanted to go to the same school.

They would be very good MVC-level players.

Gabe Madsen just committed to Utah. Bradley was in contact with both brothers, and are still pursuing Mason Madsen. It may be difficult, as he has multiple offers.

I’m starting to think our poor performance this year is affecting our recruiting.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

That's likely true. If a transfer has just a couple years left, they will naturally prefer a team that looks like an immediate winner and NCAA qualifier.
However, most of the kids Bradley has been associated with have committed to higher-level schools. Most schools still have a lot of openings, so that trend could continue for a while.

Mason Madsen is back in the NCAA Transfer Portal. Bradley recruited the Madsen brothers (Gabe & Mason) out of high school in Rochester, Minnesota, but they both ended up at Cincinnati. After one season, Gabe Madsen transferred to Utah, where he played quite a bit this past season.

Mason Madsen entered the transfer portal last year after one season at Cincinnati, but ended up returning to Cincinnati. He played even less as a sophomore than he did as a freshman.
So now he has entered the transfer portal again-

I always thought he would be a good player at the MVC level. I do not know if Bradley will get involved again.

                            Good luck to Jason Kent.
