Since you brought up Jim Les, here is an update on how his team is doing this season.
His UC Davis team is currently playing in the semifinal round of the Big West Tournament tonight.

He has done a terrific coaching job this year. UC Davis has had to overcome one of the toughest disadvantages of any team in the country. Yolo County, the California county where UC-Davis is located, imposed the strictest Covid shutdown orders of any jurisdiction in the entire country. His team was not allowed to play or practice, nor were they allowed to travel and play outside the county unless they went through an extended quarantine isolation period upon returning. As a result, they went 7 weeks in the middle of the season without playing a single game and they were unable to even practice, even though their program never had a single case of Covid-
Yolo County COVID restrictions forced UC Davis into weeks without games. Now, the men's basketball team is hungry for success.

But upon resumption of their season, they played very well, went 8-5 and finished 4th in the Big West. They won their first round game in the tournament, and advanced to play the #1 seeded team, UC-Santa Barbara tonight. UCSB is 20-4 on the season, and UCD is a big underdog tonight.

Jim had 2 sophomore guards who were voted to the 2nd team All Big West, including the returning Freshman of the Year last season, and guard Elijah Pepper, who Bradley recruited and offered and who is one of the top 3 three-point shooters in the Big West.

Ezra Manjon and Elijah Pepper are UC-Davis' top two scorers-

Any word on Childs? My brother called and said they were all cleared, but I can't find anything about Elijah.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

I have not heard anything. But maybe in a few weeks, Bradley will quietly announce it.

Wow now 5 scholarships are available. I wonder what happened this year besides Bradley's legal problems.

Wardle is now going to have to prove his worth again. This is definitely troubling, but I am not sure that the players we are losing were going to put us over the top anyway. The transfer portal is going to be huge for us to be able to compete in the near future.

I didn’t have high expectations this year, really last year was our chance to make an NCAA run. Of course we all know how that turned out.

Im not happy seeing East transferring. However, the only players I really care about staying at Mast and Ville. Of course Eli too if he is able to stick around.

if we can get through this offseason with only 5 open scholarships I’d be happy. Lots of schools have already lost 7+. It’s going to be an absolute nightmare of an off-season and who knows which teams will benefit from it and which ones will take years to recover.

Yeah...I've been in college for a while now and I'm pretty sure that awesomest is not a word. -Andrew E.

It’s quite troubling that guys like East are leaving.
The recruiting job by Wardle the last 2 years has turned into a dud. He gets a D in my book and now I really question his ability to recruit and get the most out of guys.

I think JaShon could do more than we got from him last year and I blame the coaches for that.
That kid is All Valley material.
I expected 2nd team this past year, but All Bench team? Really?

I totally agree with this. I honestly thought that he would start this year as a 3 and give us more athleticism.

Good point, but in BW's defense, the guy showed improvement every year until this one, and to judge anything on a season when games were canceled and played back to back with no fans due to shutdowns, along with limited practices and not attending classes in person, this was an extremely unusual year. If anything, I think that was what led to our problems more than anything.

The injury to Ari without another true center to back him up clearly didn't help either, but I tend to think we'd have been serviceable had the shutdowns not made everything more difficult. And yes - I realize that every team had to deal with the same issues, but BU was loaded with underclassmen this year, and not being able to practice normally with younger kids really hamstrings a coach.

                              Good points Tommy.
JaShon was not a big disappointment in my eyes, but I had expectations of him being 2nd team all valley at worst.
He had to battle through a lot, and of course, foul trouble has been his bugaboo, and then there's a few other factors as you mentioned.

Hoping he has a great senior season, as a LOT will be put on his shoulders, and will we have ANY guards to get the ball to him??
Or will JaShon have to dribble from end to end to score most times? LOL

haha! I agree with you on JaShon - he's far too talented to not be on the 2nd team, at the very least. As far as him dribbling end to end, hey, let's give it a try and see how it goes? Maybe he can play point.
