  • Arch Madness-BU is done! Now who?

Well, we’re out. Who are you adopting to root for? I’m rooting for the Trees and Greg Lansing! Hoping they pull an upset and make the Finals to give the administration the finger!

I would agree, Indiana State would be my favorite, if for no other reason than the news leaked out before this weekend that the administration was not planning on bringing Lansing back.
But realistically, I think it is going to be Loyola vs. Drake Sunday. Drake will be fresh, so they should have the advantage over Missouri State (or Valpo). And Loyola has way more depth than anyone and their key players only played about half the game in their blowout of SIU today, so they should have the advantage over the Sycamores, who don't have much depth.

Lansing is a guy who has seemed to just be going thru the motions since his best year with Mores.
I think a change is much needed for them.

      Definitely rooting for LUC!
I thought almost all of us would.
Great program and superb head coach.
I also am pulling for Drake since they had some bad luck with injuries.

I dislike Loyola almost as much as ISU Red, though I will root for them in the tournament as a Valley team.

Beyond that, the only team I really would use the word 'like' with outside of BU is Valpo. I like their players and coach, and their arena is different, but kinda neat and very close to the benches. If you've never been there, I highly recommend making the trip if society ever opens back up.

In the end, I just want the Valley to get as much cred as possible, so hope we have a good showing in the tournament. I'm probably rooting for Drake to win the MVC tourney now, as that would secure their spot with Loyola still getting in based on ranking. If by some odd circumstance, neither Drake nor Loyola wins the tourney, there is no possible way 3 valley teams makes the NCAA as I'm sure everyone here agrees.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

Wow! I didn’t think anyone disliked Loyola for reasons other than being so good!
I guess we all have our reasons and likes/dislikes.
Moser is just a fiery guy and I love that about him.
I probably now root for LUC more than U of I since I live in Chicago.
I was sad after that loss to Michigan 3 yrs ago...just fell in love with that particular team in the tourney.

I don’t think I have adamantly disliked a Valley team since I’ve been following the league for 30 yrs, though maybe Drake when they had Phelps as head coach...and then the Shockers when they abused us in the Geno era...though I admired and respected Baker and Van Vleet.

Never felt much connection to Indy St either over the years, but Evansville has always been one of my faves until Simmons left.

I don’t like or root for any of the other Illinois valley schools. I don’t really even like to see SIU or ISU win out of conference. I dislike SIU more than ISU most of time. I respect UNI and had a bit of jealous envy/admiration for CU and WSU. I don’t think Valpo was the right choice, the ARC is an interesting novelty, but we stopped playing in the Fieldhouse for good reason, they haven’t outgrown their tiny gym. Evansville never fulfilled the potential they seemed to have when coming in based on their previous success, they could leave and I wouldn’t care.

Maybe since I never attended BU and my Dad/Mom both graduated from ISU, Dad attended U of I, and my wife graduated from SIU, I don't hold this hatred for these other IL schools. (If I had a poor relationship with them, things may be different! LOL)

As a kid growing up in Central IL, you had to pick between ISU, BU, or IL. In elementary school I just wanted all of them to do well.
When I became a full-fledged BU fan in '93, I still rooted for the other IL teams, but not quite as much, though still have a strong like for the Illini to this day!

As the biggest fan of the Valley that I know, I root for any MVC team when they are not playing the Braves!
