So, Bradley and Drake both had positive Covid tests, and the contact tracing showed Bradley and Drake both had enough players to compete today. So it sounds like Missouri State (and maybe the MVC) wanted to protect the MSU team (the MVC's top ranked team) from any risk of contracting Covid. So instead of going ahead with the Bradley-Missouri State game today, which the MVC's contact tracing rules would have allowed, Missouri State has chosen to withdraw and will return home and wait for an at-large bid, and the BU-MSU game was declared a "no contest".
Because Drake was the highest seed among the 3 remaining teams (BU, LU, and DU), they will be given a bye and not play today and will advance to the Championship game Sunday. Loyola and Bradley will play at 6:00 pm today to determine the other team to advance to Sunday's championship final vs. Drake.

OK, as if this wasn't all confusing enough, check out this tweet from Bradley women's head coach Andrea Gorski-

Hey Bradley fans! We are now playing Loyola tonight at 6pm cst for the semifinal. To set the record straight, as of this time, we have had no players or coaches test positive within our basketball program. Go Braves!!

It might mean that the positive test reported by the MVC was a false positive, or maybe more likely it means the positive test was one of the Tier 1 personnel who is not a player or coach (maybe a manager, trainer, or other support personnel)?

I'm actually we haven't seen this more from ranked teams in men's and women's. I figured teams like that wouldn't want to chance it, and conferences wouldn't punish them since it likely opens it up for more teams to get in.

I agree. This sets a precedent that we could see other Top 25-30 teams (men's and women's) consider taking.
If it does happen more, will the NCAA adjust how they give out at-large bids? Or will they nullify conference auto-bids if a top seed voluntarily withdraws?
The MVC and Missouri State are literally manipulating the system which guarantees the conference gets an extra bid, which, in turn, deprives some other more-worthy team of a bid.
Regardless.... Go Braves. Grab this opportunity to get an NCAA Tournament bid!

Obviously the Valley is trying to protect their best and only ranked team from taking any chances on getting exposed to Covid. Once again it just seems like we're not getting clear answers from the Valley office. Not the way I'm sure Doug Elgin wanted to end his tenure.

Good to see them win. Good luck in the championship tomorrow. I think the women's team should teach the men's team how to shoot FT's

BU advances to their 1st MVC Tournament championship game with a 70-56 win. Lasha Petree scored 24 points on 8-10 shooting, 4-6 from 3. Gabi Haack had 16 points and scored her 1,600th point at BU. Gabi has scored 1602 points putting her #3 all time. She's 5 points behind Shelli Braud who played from 1984-88. #1 all time is Karen Anderson with 1679 and she played from 1979-83. Petree through 3 seasons has scored 1353 points and should have a great chance to leave BU as the all time leading scorer.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.
