What kind of dog house is East in.....only a couple minutes...gets a bucket and rides the pine....Thomas gets in before East? No chance of winning with McAdoo at point....he thinks he has to score too much and throws lazy passes.

Bradley loses at home to Drake 80-71
          https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...meId=401267158

Darnell Brodie, who averaged 7.2 ppg, was virtually unstoppable and scored a career-high 21 for Drake. All 5 Drake starters were in double-figures.

Bradley is now 5-12, and has dropped into 9th place, just a half game ahead of ISU. ISU is at home against UNI, and with an ISU win, Bradley will drop into a last place tie with UNI and ISU (and probably also with SIU if they lose at Loyola).

Matt Hackman just updated the MVC seeding probabilities with 1 game remaining for the 10 teams.
There is still a small chance Bradley can finish 6th, and an even smaller chance they could finish as high as 5th

I am glad East got a lot of PT in the 2nd half, but it blows my mind why our best true PG since Maniscalco is competing with Thomas and McAdoo for PT!

East did about everything right tonight - on both ends - probably only JaShon played better.
Hey - I’m a numbers guy - and East’s stats are VERY impressive considering his limited PT.
The kid still has a better A-TO ratio (81 assists: 33 turnovers) than any Brave this past decade - maybe the last 2...and is close to being our 4th leading scorer and barely gets 20 mpg!

I admire him for keeping his head up, having a positive attitude no matter what, and basically having to play solid every time he sees the floor or else the other 2 guys (who are NOT 1st squad material in the Valley!) replace him.

Hopefully Wardle sees this - it’s probably more factors than we know, but I was very discouraged to see East on the bench so much in the 1st half, and it took poor play by Thomas to tick Wardle off enough to bring East in.

I’d think the future of the Braves should absolutely include a guy as efficient as him!

Can Bradley pull off a win in their final game? I think they can. Any hope of avoiding the Thursday play-in games requires a win tonight, and even with a win, we need a couple other teams to lose to move into the 6th (or 5th) slot.
Last night's game might have had a different outcome if Bradley had shot better. It's hard to win when we are only making 30% of our perimeter shots (18% in the first half), while Drake was shooting well over 50% overall and from three.
                  Game Stats- https://bradleybraves.com/documents/...Bradley_71.pdf
                  Standings- https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...ngs/_/group/18

I liked the pressure defense that Bradley employed late. It seemed to rattle Drake and they weren't able to run their offense as efficiently. But IMO, we might have waited too late to start pressing, It did help cut Drake's 19 point lead with under 8 minutes left to a final margin of 9 points. I hope we see more of it tonight. Drake does not go very deep with their rotation. They only played 7 players, and their 5 starters played 40, 40, 39, 35, and 35 minutes (only 1 Bradley player played more than 31 minutes). Their 2 reserves only played 5 and 6 minutes, and contributed only a total of 1 basket and 2 rebounds. So I'd like to see Bradley try to get more into Drake's bench by pushing the tempo, and pressing at times throughout the game.

                    Nice assessment, Coach.

One thing I would like to see is more time for Linke in the middle. Put him in there and tell him to contest every shot that comes in the lane (this is what we have been missing since Boya went down). Linke has 5 fouls to give and with his size, I think he's being wasted with his limited playing time. There's more ways to add value than stats, and playing him in the middle would allow Mast to move to his more comfortable position and maybe open him up for more 3's, and even if not, we just need someone to contest shots on the inside regularly and Mast can't afford to get into foul trouble as he's one of our only consistent scoring threats right now.

Lastly, would be nice to get Kent more involved. Feels like he has been odd man out and after the Missouri game, I really thought he'd be doing more in the scoring category by now.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

Good point, Tommy, I was thinking the same thing. Darnell Brodie killed Bradley last night. He was 10-13 for a career-high of 21 points (he was only averaging 7.2 ppg), but he only went to the free throw line once and that was with only 1:28 left in the game when things got a bit sloppy (he was 1-2). Also, he played 35 minutes in last night's game, far more than he's played in any game this season, and 50% more than his average for the season of about 20 minutes per game prior to last night. His season FT shooting average is not great (63.6%), so I think we should be more physical on defense and not be afraid to foul him and make him shoot free throws. And on offense, we should take the ball at him more. He has had foul trouble in a number of Drake's games, and fouled out of a couple. Let's try to draw more fouls on him. He had 3 fouls last night, more than any Drake player, and it did not appear we even were trying to get shots in the lane against him.

Recommend the Rumble site for fuller versions, but have some catching up to do there before it’s got as much content as YouTube.

I hope I can start posting some wins soon!

I hate to be negative but....from what I saw last night Linke has absolutely no ability to guard Brodie. If Linke is guarding Brodie the ball goes to Brodie every time. If Linke aggressively challenges every shot he fouls out after about 7 times down thee court. Don’t see that strategy working-we may have to put Linke on him for spells due to our short bench but I don’t see that going well.

No argument there, but if he just contests shots inside the lane, those are fouls that Mast isn't getting. He's just a freshman that doesn't have many minutes, so of course our expectations need to be limited for him, but you don't get better by sitting on the bench and he's got 5 fouls to give, so whether he can or can't doesn't matter. Get him in there, tell him your expectations and see what happens.

You may be right that he fouls out after 7 times down the court, but with the amount of time he's playing what difference would it make? And who knows, he may surprise us, but only way to find out is to get him out there. I just know whatever we've been doing hasn't been working and our defense has been terrible both inside and out, so something needs to change and giving one of our freshman some additional playing time can only help us down the road.

Sean East starting in place of Kevin McAdoo, who is out with an injury.
Antonio Thomas starts in place of Ville Tahvanainen, who is said to be a bit sick, but could still play.
Starting lineup (substitute Antonio Thomas for Ville)-
