Drake lead by as many as 31 points in their win over Evansville, though UE outscored Drake 23-6 over the final 8:09 of the game to make the final score look a bit more respectable.
Final score- Drake 85 Evansville 71

But some possible bad news for Drake- Starting point guard Roman Penn left the game early in the 2nd half with what appeared to be an ankle injury. He hobbled to the locker room and eventually returned to the Drake bench, but he did not return to the game.
The high scorer for Drake was sophomore backup point guard Joseph Yesufu, who scored 32 points in 26 minutes of playing time.

A strange ending as Valpo went scoreless for the final 4:03 of the game, and SIU was scoreless for the final 3:39 of the game.
Valpo improves to 6-9, and SIU drops to 4-11. They play again Monday night.

Drake cannot afford to lose another game without a risk of falling out of at-large consideration. And they are shorthanded with 2 starters out (Hemphill & Penn), but to see head coach DeVries play 3 starters 40 minutes, and a 4th starter 37 minutes is a bit surprising. It suggests that the coach hasn't got much confidence in his remaining bench players. I don't think he'll be able to play his guys that many minutes in their games in St. Louis.
