  • Things to make you go "HMMN"

A couple things I wanted to talk about, one with a MO Valley connection, the other BU somewhat related. I'll start with the 2nd one. Ohio State and Iowa played a slam bang of a game tonight with the Buckeyes winning it 89-85. The offensive stats in this game was amazing. Both teams had 4 guys in double figures. Both teams were 14-32 from 3. Both teams had 11 offensive rebounds, 20 assists, 4 steals and just 6 turnovers. After watching us struggle to score points and turn the ball over the last few games it was a lot of fun to watch 2 teams not struggle. The first thing is about 2 time MO Valley POY Fred Van Fleet who on the 2nd scored a Toronto franchise record 54 points. He was an amazing 11-14 from 3. Also since the NBA began the Common draft in 1966 the 54 points also set a NBA record for a free agent. The Rockford native has certainly exceeded all expectations of the so called experts. We in the Mo Valley knew better.

Well I can't say that I thought much about Van Vleet even being a starter - let alone a World Champion NBA team! Let alone set that record! Let alone become a star!

He was an incredible PG as a Shocker, but who would've thunk his greatness at the next level.

bigjimmy - you're dating yourself with that title, Arsenio!
      Larry Bird
I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

Hey Tommy I actually stole that from Jim Matson, who stole it from Arsenio.

Another thing that makes ya go...hmmmmn

This year's newcomer class for BU is IMO the best we've had on the Hilltop in over a decade.
East, Mast, Nolan Jr., Hannah, Kent, and McAdoo are all pretty good - sure there have been some inconsistencies in their 1st season and the last 3 just don't get many chances to show their stuff, but we've seen their potential.
Yet, here we sit with a record below .500.

            Makes ya go hmmmmn.
