  • Players wearing masks

I don't recall seeing cases of Division I men's basketball players wearing a mask while playing, though it might have happened. If it did, it has been rare.
It has occurred a few times in women's games-

It would seem very uncomfortable and difficult to breathe with heavy exertion while wearing a mask.

But today, Boston College announced that their players will all be wearing masks in future games, plus, all visiting opponents will also be required to wear masks.

Seems like a little bit of an overreaction, since the school does not allow fans or anyone other than team members and essential personnel in the arenas. And, the players and team personnel are tested 3 to 7 times a week. Plus, the age group we are talking about is the healthiest age group with the lowest rate of serious forms of the disease. And although there have been cases of positive tests among college players, there has not been a single case reported of serious complications from the disease, prolonged hospitalization, or death among the athletes from a case acquired through spread from competing on the court.

Let all the other teams wear N95's and craft some for our boys some out of fishnet stockings.
But in all seriousness, mask or no mask, Ja'Shon Henry will still finish with a dunk.

Boston University won the game played yesterday at Holy Cross, when BU players wore masks and Holy Cross players did not
Note that most of the BU players wore the masks incorrectly, so they could breathe better-

The two teams played again today at Boston University, where both teams were required by a campus rule to wear masks.
      Holy Cross won today's game 68-66- https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...meId=401259677

Looks like both the visiting Holy Cross players and the BU players weren't really into this mask rule today.
Every player was wearing the chin-jockstrap thing.-

What about just making it a foul if you come within 6ft of an opposing player? Just a thought?

What's the point in wearing a mask if it's not over your nose and mouth. Just makes no sense to have it on if you're not going to use it properly.

Or it seems it would do more good if they placed hand sanitizer stations around the perimeter of the court for the players to use every couple minutes during the game.

You hit the nail on the head. Boston U.'s own players (as well as the opponents) realize the rule forcing them to wear the masks is a joke. It prevents them from playing their best and hurts their chances of winning. So they are openly defying the rule and challenging the administration to enforce it.

Virtually every photo I can find from the game shows players from both teams wearing the mask incorrectly, even the bench players

Btw, here is the Boston University face mask rule-
            https://www.bu.edu/back2bu/student-h...ublic%20spaces.

The rule requires that the mask be worn at all times in any university building, and the masks must "cover the nose, mouth, and chin", but another criteria is that the mask must "allow for breathing without restriction".
It is virtually impossible for an effective mask not to interfere to some degree with with the breathing of an athlete at the extreme levels of exertion that basketball requires.
So it will be interesting to see how BU responds to their players' insubordination.

I don't remember which game it was this year but it was within the last 3 games. One of the opposing players vomited during the game and the player finished playing the game. I think this may be where B.U.'s covid problems may began. Does anyone else remember the announcer saying this.

I do remember the incident, but now I don't recall which game it was or who the player was. I think it was either the Miami or Missouri road game, but not 100% sure.

It was the home game against Jackson State.

For the record, Jackson State has not had any Covid issues reported. So it doesn't seem likely Bradley's problems came from them.
