I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

The Blue Ribbon Yearbook also named Elijah Childs to their preseason All-MVC team, and Terry Nolan, Jr. was recognized as the MVC Newcomer of the Year.
Eli's recognition is a given, but Terry Nolan being recognized as NOY is a nice surprise, considering there are a lot of talented transfers, highly rated jucos, and very good freshmen entering the MVC this year.

Here are a some incoming transfer players from MVC teams, some of whom might compete for the 2020-21 All-Newcomer team-
      Bradley-
Terry Nolan, Jr., Kevin McAdoo, and Sean East.

      Drake-
      Darnell Brodie
      - 6'10" 265 pound junior center who transferred from Seton Hall, who finished tied for 1st in the Big East last season. Brodie received a waiver from the NCAA and will be eligible this season. He only played in 10 games as a freshman and 3 as a sophomore due to injury and illness, but was a 3-star recruit out of prep school.
Darnell Brodie, a 6-10, 265-pound forward has joined the Drake University men's basketball program, head coach Darian DeVries announced Monday, April 20.

ShanQuan "Tank" Hemphill- 6'6" forward who transferred to Drake from Wisconsin-Green Bay after they fired their coach. He was a teammate of Tremell Murphy (who will return to Drake after getting a redshirt year) at Florida Southwest College. He started every game and averaged 11.7 points and 5.6 rebounds in his junior season at Green Bay in 2018-19, but missed his senior season due to injury.

      Evansville-
Samari Curtis is a 6'4" shooting guard who spent the first semester of 2019-20 at Nebraska, then transferred to Evansville in Jan. 2020. He will be eligible to play after the first semester of this season. He originally committed to Cincinnati, but switched to Nebraska. He was a prolific scorer in high school and was ranked a 4-star recruit by ESPN. He averaged 33.8 ppg as a senior in high school in Ohio and was the 2019 Mr. Basketball Ohio. He averaged 30.4 ppg as a HS junior.
Emmette Page is a 6'2" guard who transferred to Evansville from Northeast Community College in Nebraska. He averaged 21.9 ppg, 5.0 apg, and shot 37.1% from three his sophomore season at NECC.

      Indiana State-
T.J. Howard- 6'2" guard who is a grad-transfer from Towson who averaged 10.2 ppg in his last season at Towson.
Randy Miller, Jr.- a 6'2" guard who is a grad-transfer from North Carolina Central who averaged 14.3 ppg his final season at NCCU

      Illinois State-

Sy Chatman- 6'8" forward who transferred after playing 2 seasons at UMass. According to Dan Muller, he is likely to redshirt this season.
Josiah Strong- 6'3" combo guard transferred from Iowa Western CC where he averaged 17.8 ppg.
Alex Kotov- 6'10" forward who averaged 6.1 ppg and 5.9 rpg in one season at Palm Beach State College in Florida.

      Loyola-
Damezi Anderson- a 6'7", 225 lb junior transfer from Indiana University where he spent 2 seasons. He was a 4-star recruit out of high school, but didn't play much at IU and averaged only 1.5 ppg as a freshman, and 2.8 ppg as a sophomore.
Braden Norris- 6'0" guard who transferred from Oakland where he spent one season. He averaged 8.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, 5.2 assists per game as a freshman.

      Missouri State-
Demarcus Sharp- 6'4" junior guard from Colby County CC. He was a 1st team junior college All-American there, averaging 16.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists per game.

He didn’t have to sit out a year like most and he will be a force. I know we need to see it on the floor in a BU uniform but we will.
I am far from an expert, but I have watched several of Sean East's games from last year. He is very talented and has the potential of being a huge addition for the Braves the next few years. He does, IMHO, have some areas to work on before coach makes him a starter. Hopefully he will be as good as advertised and Antonio Thomas also improves his outside shot. It would be great to have a few nice options at PG.

Rienk Mast will be on the list. The only thing can stop him is if he needs time after his injury to get back in the flow. Bradley is also so deep he may not have huge numbers.

I think Rienk will get a lot of playing time with Koch Bar gone, and will be a matchup problem for other big men in the MVC. He will probably be a candidate for the All-Freshmen team.
But I didn't include him, since my list is only the new transfers among the MVC teams, and candidates for All-Newcomer. With the explosion of transfers in Division I, we seem to have a record number of incoming transfers this year.

I understood your post and wasn’t questioning it. I am just pointing out that as far as new comers go, Rienk will be an impact player.

I'm okay with 7th place pick for Drake, but I don't think it's fair to say they're in major rebuild mode. Even with losing Robbins, Drake returns 3 full-time starters and adds in Tremell Murphy who missed virtually all of last season, so in a way, you can almost say Drake returns 4 starters. I think the Bulldogs have a higher % of points returning from last season than Bradley does.

Again, not questioning where you predicted the Bulldogs, just can't agree with the "total rebuild" part.

The preseason poll and All-MVC picks have been released-

The one team I was way off on my predictions of how the voters would vote is SIU. The poll has them at #5, and I predicted they would be picked #9-

I still believe #5 is a bit too high for a team that finished 16-16 overall, lost 6 of their last 7 games, and return only 2 players who played any significant role last season or produced more than 2.8 points per game. But we'll see.

Apparently Mullins doest have to prove himself and is a real difference maker. I like him and think highly of him. So excited for the season. Hopeful Childs stays healthy and wins POY. We all know hes capable.

I wonder how many times we'll need to win the MVC before we can get more than one 1st place vote!

Ok by me, I think BW and the team like being the underdog and makes beating UNI and Loyola all the more sweeter. I'm expecting to see our first win at the Gentile Center this year. I just hope they let us attend!
