  • Impact transfers for 2020-21

Here is an article from CollegeHoopsToday.com by noted college basketball expert Jon Rothstein, with a list of "25 Top Impact Transfers for the 20-21 Season"-

I don't recall a previous season with so many top tier impact transfers as there are this 2020-21 season. Usually teams look at transfers to fill needs, or be complimentary players, but there are a number of players on that list who could possibly become the best players on their new team immediately, and even a few who could be All-Conference or even All-Americans at their new schools.
There is one ex-Missouri Valley transfer listed, Liam Robbins, who is now at Minnesota and is projected to be their starting center.

Bradley's two newly eligible transfers, Terry Nolan, Jr. and Kevin McAdoo, will both have an immediate impact here, IMO, and there are a few other key transfers at other MVC schools, but none of the incoming MVC transfers made their list.

I may be nitpicking but don’t we have 3 newly eligible transfers ? You didn’t mention Sean East.

Yes, you are absolutely right. And he could have the biggest impact of the three with filling the void at point guard. Thanks for noting!
One of the things I am most interested in seeing this year is just how much those new players will play. We will need significant contributions from a few of them to compete for the top of the MVC again.
And although Rienk Mast is not a transfer, he could also have a big impact on the team in his first season of eligibility. I am hearing he is 100% recovered, and can be nearly-unstoppable around the basket, but can also drain the three.

Great news on Rienk Mast!! Looks like that we will have very good depth at all positions. The season can't get here soon enough!

I’m super intrigued by two things heading into the season:

which big man will emerge as the second best? Rim protector Boya? Or one of the many new guys? I would assume Boya will get the starts deep into the year, but will he be in the closing lineups?

and just how good are all of our transfer combo guards? East looks good. But we need 2 of the three (east, Nolan, mcadoo) to be very good to replace brown and kennel, two very big holes in our line up.
          Gotta stop feeding the trolls.

Agree. With so may new skilled players, and without preseason exhibitions, as well as a late start in the season, I would be surprised if Coach Wardle doesn't experiment with several different lineup combinations in the early non-conference games, including different starters, and different combinations during and at the ends of games.
I always try not to speculate about redshirts, and Coach Wardle generally doesn't like to use them, but this year we might be a bit more likely to see it with so many guys vying for playing time.
