UTEP moving from CUSA to the Mountain West - https://x.com/PeteThamel/status/1841120984616624363
UTEP has not had much success in CUSA in football or basketball in recent years. In football, they have had just one winning season in the conference in the last 20 years, and they are 0-4 this season.
And in basketball, they have had just one winning CUSA season in the last 7 years, they have not made the NCAA Tournament since 2010, and have not won an NCAA game since 1992.
The CUSA has changed more than any other conference over the last couple decades. CUSA was a pretty good mid-major conference when UTEP joined in 2005. But every other school that was in CUSA in 2005 is long gone.
Here is the current CUSA for football - https://conferenceusa.com/standings.aspx?standings=1141
And for basketball - https://conferenceusa.com/standings.aspx?standings=1135

Missouri State football throughout their history at the "small college" and FCS level has been a bad program. Their program's overall record is below .500 (492-532-39, 0.481).
And they have been even worse in recent years.
Their record over the last 20 seasons is 76-134, an abysmal 0.362 winning percentage.
They have had only one winning season in the last 15 years.
And they only average about 11,000 attendance per game.
And, believe it or not, Bradley has produced as many NFL players in their hisory than Missouri State has, despite the fact Bradley has not fielded a football team for the last 54 years. Good luck to them at the FBS level in the watered down CUSA.
Missouri State football record over last 20 seasons-
2023- 4-7
2022- 5-6
2021- 8-4
2020- 5-5
2019- 1-10
2018- 4-7
2017- 3-8
2016- 4-7
2015- 1-10
2014- 4-8
2013- 5-7
2012- 3-8
2011- 2-9
2010- 5-6
2009- 6-5
2008- 4-7
2007- 6-5
2006- 2-9
2005- 4-7
2004- 5-6

Gonzaga has made their decision- they will join the new Pac-12 in two years (July, 2026) - https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...ol-sources-say
The Pac-12 still needs to add one more football school to reach 8 for football. 8 is the minimum number of members required to qualify as an FBS conference.
Gonzaga is the only private school in the new Pac-12 for now. This move seriously weakens the West Coast Conference. Will St. Mary's or another WCC school look to move?
New Pac-12 members-
Washington State
Oregon State
Boise State
Colorado State
Utah State
Fresno State
San Diego State
Gonzaga (for all sports but football)

They have now reneged on that move, and decided to go fo the Mountain West instead. - https://www.azcentral.com/story/spor...e/75992733007/
It seems like a strange move since every other school in the Mountain West plays football and GCU doesn't.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

Sources: Northern Illinois Considering Football-Only Offer From Mountain West
If NIU accepts, where would their other sports go? Would the MAC allow these sports to stay? This includes their embarrassingly bad men's basketball program.
I haven't seen anything about this on espn.com or on niuhuskies.com.My first BU hoops game was on 12/30/1963. My dad took me to watch the Braves defeat Arizona 67-59. He helped me get Coach Orsborn's autograph before the game.

I'm sure the MAC would not let them stay for non-football sports. NIU would pursue the MVC, Horizon, Summit, or maybe OVC. However I'm sure their bad basketball would be a dealbreaker for the Valley.BRADLEY BASKETBALL
-2 NCAA Title Games
-3 NCAA Elite Eights
-4 NCAA Sweet 16s
-4 NIT Championships
