Bradley players to return to campus June 8

Bradley will reopen the campus Monday, June 8 for the men's and women's athletes to return to campus for voluntary workouts.
Dave Reynolds reported that 12 of the 13 men's players will be on campus. Ville Tahvanainen is the one exception. He is completing a military obligation in his home country of Finland and playing for his country's national team. Dave did not mention walk-on Riley Burger, who has not yet been confirmed as returning to the team this coming season.

Hey coach, can you help me understand the medical logic behind not allowing the coaches to have contact with the players during these voluntary workouts? IMO the practice facilities are large enough where they can honor the social distancing recommendations and at the same time have an opportunity to learn from the coaches.
Are pickup games allowed during the voluntary workouts?

They made these summer workouts voluntary so that student athletes who were not comfortable with returning to campus would not be penalized for choosing not to participate.
I think they ruled that coaches cannot be present or direct the workouts to make it a more fair to schools who choose not to open for these workouts or schools in states or localities where they are not allowed yet.
And, yes, as far as I can tell, pickup games are allowed, as long as they are organized and run by the players themselves and no coaches are involved.
It appears the ruling does allow coaches to have virtual contact with players.

By the way, unlike Bradley, there are a lot of schools that are not allowing their campuses to reopen yet.
Here is an article from the Bloomington Pantagraph about the football and basketball programs at ISU. The ISU campus is still closed with no current plans to reopen. The delay for teams like ISU could have a significant impact, since they have 6 or 7 new players joining their team and they return only 2 starters and only 5 players who were on last season's roster.
