  • Committments at Mizzou

Now that Missouri has lost out on Scott Suggs, they are going hard after the next wave of targets, and have landed two decent players, both shooting guards.
First is Marcus Denmon, a fine SG from Kansas City.

Barry Hinson had been recruiting Marcus Denmon for a long time, and he felt he had a good chance of landing him. Missouri State was one of several Missouri Valley schools recruiting Denmon. The others were Creighton and Illinois State. So another tough loss for the MVC.

I am a bit stumped as to why these are the guys Mizzou fans should be excited about.
Hey, they just lost by a thread on Scott Suggs right out of their own front year, he'd have been a great get.
But Suggs is a 4-star, Top 50 player.
These two guys they just announced are a world of difference.
Denmon is an undersized, 6-0 shooting guard who was being pursued almost exclusively by midmajors. Mizzou can hardly feel good about just barely beating out Missouri State for the kid.
And the other kid, Zaire Taylor, is a skinny SG who transferred from another midmajor, Delaware.
Taylor was the 3rd leading scorer on a 5-26 midmajor team.
He only has two years remaining but will occupy a scholarship for the next 3 years, as he has to sit out after transferring.
I actually see both of these players as less than overwhelming for a Big XII team trying to get back to winning ways.
Their big loss was when Kalen Grimes was booted off the team, and they have nobody to take his spot as a banger in the lane.
Mizzou will be very bad for a couple years to come.

And to think... Illini fans think their 'Rivalry Game' with Mizzoo is a big game every year.

          Bravesguy,

I am confused you use the term "midmajor" several times, what does this term "midmajor" mean and why do you use it to describe division 1 universities?

Please stop buying into the media hype. Mizzou, Missouri State, Delaware are all Division 1 Universities.
