  • 2020 early season tournaments

As we've mentioned earlier, Bradley will be playing in the 2020 Paradise Jam in St. Thomas, USVI-
    https://basketballtravelers.com/inde...?path=paradise

The field includes Bradley, Buffalo (MAC), Cleveland State (Horizon), FIU (CUSA), Long Beach State (Big West), St. Bonaventure (A-10), Weber State (Big Sky), and 1 other team yet to be named (Colorado State was planned, but they withdrew).

This site lists all the early season tournaments; many still need to add teams-

Evansville will be playing in a new 4-team tournament called the Dana Point Southern California Challenge. It will probably be played in the Thanksgiving week, and includes Fresno State, Pepperdine and Oakland, in addition to Evansville.

Illinois State is playing in the 2020 Cancun Challenge (the same tournament that Bradley won in 2018 ). It will be played November 24-25, 2020, and includes Clemson, Mississippi State, and Purdue, in addition to Illinois State.

Loyola is playing in the Myrtle Beach Invitational, Nov. 19, 20, and 22, 2020. Other teams are Charlotte, Dayton, MIssouri, Nebraska, Penn, Pitt, and Utah State.

Missouri State is playing in the Jersey Mike's Jamaica Classic, Nov. 20 & 22 in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Other teams include UMass, Wake Forest, and 1 other unnamed team

UNI is playing in the Cayman Islands Classic Nov. 23-25, 2020. Other teams include Kansas State, LaSalle, Miami (FL), Nevada, Mississippi, Oregon State, and Western Kentucky.

Indiana State, SIU, Valparaiso, and Drake have not yet announced participation in a tournament, but there is a good likelihood they will.

Southern Illinois will be in a November tournament in San Juan, Puerto Rico along with Air Force, Florida Atlantic, and Hofstra.
That leaves only Indiana State, Valparaiso, and Drake as the 3 MVC teams not yet announced to be playing in early-season tournaments.

Sources: Little Rock will replace Colorado State in the 2020 Paradise Jam. Rest of field: Bradley Buffalo Cleveland State FIU Long Beach State St. Bonaventure Weber State

Got a few "weaklings" in the field, now. Bradley might just take this tourney. Don't know why they are not playing in a tourney which includes some high majors in the field.
My first BU hoops game was on 12/30/1963. My dad took me to watch the Braves defeat Arizona 67-59. He helped me get Coach Orsborn's autograph before the game.

Drake is in the 2020 Islands of the Bahamas Showcase. Bradley was in the inaugural Island of the Bahamas Showcase in Nov. of 2017.
However, instead of being played on the Island of Nassau where the first 3 tournaments were held, the 2020 tournament will be held in Fort Myers, Florida. So far, there are only 6 confirmed participants in the in the field: Drake, Austin Peay, Drexel, Iona, Loyola Marymount, and Toledo. Two more teams will be added at a later date.

Here are the early-season tournaments for all 10 MVC teams-

Let's all hope that there will be tournaments and a regular season. Maybe if fan participation is limited, we can hope for all games will be televised.

There is a 4-team "bubble" event being organized at the Yum Center in Louisville starting Nov. 25. Initially, 4 teams committed to the event- Arkansas Little Rock, Duquesne, UNC Greensboro and Winthrop, but there were plans to expand it to as many as 8 or 12 teams-
Louisville, Seton Hall, Duquesne, UNCG, Winthrop, Southern Illinois, Arkansas Little Rock, Western Kentucky and Prairie View A&M will play in the MTE.

Now Southern Illinois is rumored to be joining the event-
After it was announced that three teams would be participating in the 'Louisville basketball Bubble', sources say WKU & SIU are also joining the bubble.
