Illinois State loses players to transfer

Sophomore forward Rey Idowu has entered the NCAA transfer portal.

He played in 30 games this season and started 14, and averaged 4.4 ppg and 3.2 rpg this season.

When Rey Idowu and Abdou Ndiaye both committed 2 years ago, they were said to be difference makers. But neither has shown much, so far. Idowu, when he played, actually produced better that the more highly touted Ndiaye, who averaged only 1.5 ppg and 3.2 rpg.

ISU was oversigned for 2020-21, so this comes as no surprise. I'm sure we'll see other ISU players who will be leaving.

Taylor Bruninga and Matt Chastain will end their careers related to recrurring injuries.

Both are on track to graduate in 1 year (May, 2021). They will remain at ISU on a scholarship, and with the NCAA medical exemption, those scholarships will not count against ISU's maximum of 13. So this gives Dan Muller 2 more scholarships for 2020.
