  • Did the NCAA act too quickly ?

Does anyone on this board think that the NCAA could’ve postponed the tournament for a month or two and let this epidemic pass and then continue on with this tournament? What’s the difference between playing in April or early May instead of the usual March

I think that should be considered things could change if they get control of virus

Yes, I think they missed an opportunity to hit the pause button and consider alternatives more carefully. A few days of reflection and calm would have been insightful. If there were to be no fans, the original (huge) venue bookings could have been abandoned in favor of smaller college gym sites. The “TV Only” tournament still would have garnered huge interest and made huge $$. Almost no big decisions of this magnitude need to be made on the spot. The NCAA screwed the pooch in my opinion.
      Compete. Defend. Rebound. Win.

          Without a doubt.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

Remember during this time there is no practice allowed.
I do like the idea of letting the seniors play another year if they so choose which is being floated by some big time coaches.

The closed scrimmage concept would have worked great In my opinion... Higher seed would host... Could keep venue well under a 1000 depending on what host state mandated. including a skeleton crew to cover game to televise... If universities end up shutting down then host school could decide on alternate venue off campus.. all within protocol. A win win.

In hindsight I think they'll be taking a wait and see approach, but announced full on cancellation just so it was taken as seriously as possible. If they announced a pause, then you may risk teams doing stupid things in the face of quarantine measures potentially enacted. Right now, Europe is shutting down. All non-essential stores and movement is now banned. In Italy, from what I hear, people still tried to circumvent this. So being as definitive as possible right now may have been a factor in their decision.

Remember, we're VERY early in this. The incubation period is pretty long. And flattening the curve of those who need to utilize healthcare services means that this will take longer than just letting it burn uncontrolled.

I would expect that post control, they may announce either some sort of May/June tournament or giving everyone an extra year of eligibility.

On a general note, from what I am seeing so far in stores and commodity markets. Things are still flowing. Goods are still being produced. Grain futures are still being traded. The infrastructure that keeps society alive is well. PLEASE do not panic buy or do stupid things. STOP BUYING TOILET PAPER! Only 4% of COVID-19 cases involve intestinal distress.

I wouldn't want to see DB Jr, Nate to play 1 more year. Their seasons were incredible and they should go out as planned.
I would think the same would apply to most teams.

Also, the career stats would be so skewed - DB may have a shot at #2 all-time on the scoring list, and that just isn't right IMO.
Don't get me wrong - I LOVED seeing our seniors play and would enjoy seeing them play again, but they did play pretty much the whole season.

It doesn't make sense to me giving seniors another full year.
