Mo Valley Quarterfinal Games

First game is UNI vs Drake. They played in Des Moines last Saturday and the Panthers kicked Drake’s butt in the second half. I would think that will motivate the Bulldogs just a little bit. Drake also shot the ball really well last night so if that can continue along with trying to keep AJ Green under control the Bulldogs have a shot. Have to think UNI feels a bit of pressure to win because if they don’t chances of an at large selection goes out the window. Longer Drake stays in the game the better I like their chances but the Panthers should prevail.

Drake off to a hot start from 3 as they are 3-4 from there and lead UNI 9-4 with 15:58 left in first half. The Panthers are just 1-5 from the field

Drake still holding their own up 15-8 with 11:56 left. The Bulldogs doing a good job of containing AJ Green as he’s just 0-2 from the field. The primary defender on him Anthony Murphy who also leads Drake with 6 points

8:27 left and no let up for the Bulldogs as they are leading 22-12. Green just scored his first basket for UNI while Murphy for Drake has 8. Drake is shooting 8-16 overall, 4-7 from 3 while UNI is shooting just 4-16, 0-5 from 3.

Ben Jacobson just used a second timeout in the first half to get his guys in gear as Drake now leads 29-16

Drake leads 38-22 with 3:25 left. Liam Robbins has started making his presence known as he piled up 9 points, a couple of them on rebound put backs in the last few minutes. Drake is shooting 15-26, 5-9 from 3

Robbins just picked up his 2nd foul with 2:40 left. Could be momentum changer

Yeah I’d put money on UNI having a nice second half and winning this game.

UNI was able to get inside after Robbins went to the bench and they got Drake’s lead down to 43-33 at the half. Drake was 17-29 from the field, 6-10 from 3 and UNI shot just 11-31 from the field, 2-11 from 3. Drake had 10 assists to just 5 turnovers while UNI had just 4 assists and 4 turnovers. Murphy had 11 and Robbins had 9 to lead Drake and AJ Green led UNI with 10. I think UNI needs to get Robbins his 3rd foul early in the 2nd half because if they don’t Drake will win it

Uncle Mo is on UNI’s side as they have picked it up to Mo Valley Champ level on both ends as they trail 46-44.

UNI led 2-0 and that’s been it. 11:56 left and Drake leads 50-48 but have some foul trouble as Noah Thomas has 4 and Roman Penn and Robbins have 3. Trae Burhow has 3 for UNI
