      All Newcomer team-

      Jake Laravia- Indiana State
      Roman Penn- Drake
      Gaige Prim- Missouri

      Donovan Clay- Valparaiso
      D.J. Horne- Illinois State

(I think SIU's Lance Jones got robbed...averaged more than D.J. Horne, both are nice freshmen, but I like Jones better)

      All-Defense-
      Isaiah Brown- UNI
      Javon Freeman-Liberty- Valparaiso
      Liam Robbins- Drake
      Christian Williams- Indiana State
      Lucas Williamson- Drake

        Others who got robbed-
Zach Copeland of ISU- he ranks 7th in scoring in the MVC and is one of the top 3-point shooters in the league, but did not make even the 3rd team
Trae Berhow of UNI- He ranks 12th in the MVC in scoring and is #1 in 3-point percentage
K.J. Riley of Evansville- he ranks 14th in scoring despite being the only serious offensive threat on Evansville and getting double-teamed a lot; plus he gets to the FT line more than anyone and shoots 81%

Thank you Da Coach - for always sharing this type of news and keeping all the Bradley fans "quickly" up to speed with the "latest". I totally agree with your assessment - Darrel Brown - "should have" - Elijah Childs - "would have" .

Congratulations to Darrel and Elijah and Nate Kennell.... All so well deserved

A few more awards will be announced today or tomorrow- the All-Bench Team, and the 6th man award. I predict Ja'Shon Henry will win the 6th man award and be on the All-Bench team.
Also, Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, and Freshman of the Year. yet to come.

Coach of the Year will be announced at the Tournament luncheon on Thursday.

              More MVC awards-
AJ Green of UNI is the Larry Bird Player of the Year
Marcus Domask of Southern Illinois is the Newcomer of the Year and also the Freshman of the Year
Isaiah Brown of UNI is the Defensive MVP
Marquise Kennedy of Loyola is the Sixth Man of the Year

Ja'shon Henry was robbed. Henry averaged 9.7 ppg and 6.1 rpg which ranked 6th in the MVC (10.1 & 6.6 in MVC games), more than any other MVC player who played predominantly off the bench.
Marquise Kennedy averaged 9.3 ppg, 2.6 rpg (9.5 & 2.9 in MVC games), and 1.3 assists per game.

Did it “hurt” him in the 6th man voting because he started so much while Elijah was out ?

That was my thought. It probably did. Ja'Shon started 10 games during the MVC part of the schedule because of Elijah's injury. Other than that he was strictly a 6th man. I would have hoped those voting would take into account that he was pressed into those starts, but they didn't.
For the record, Marquise Kennedy started 6 games during the season.

Well, these awards should fuel the motivation for our boys. We definitely weren't shown much love with this voting and frankly, just another example of why I hate individual awards that aren't based off a straight up stat.

No Braves on the All-Defensive team is a travesty. We led the conference in rebounding and blocks and have the best lock down defense in the conference (see the last 5 minutes of just about any game). 2 players on the All D team from Drake, who is relegated to a play-in game? Please. Enough. And done.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

Good point. Bradley had some pretty good defensive numbers, even if there was no single player who was recognized.
Here are a few notable defensive statistics :
Bradley was #1 in Field Goal Percentage Defense overall, and also #1 in FG% Defense in MVC games-
                      ab
And despite the barrage of 3-pointers at Valpo (), Bradley lead the MVC in 3-point FG% defense-
                      c
And as Tommy said, Bradley was the #1 rebounding team as well as #1 in offensive rebounding-
                      daaa
And Bradley was #1 in blocks-
                      aa
And note that Elijah Childs lead the MVC in rebounding with 8.7 rpg. Unfortunately, because of his injury, he did not qualify for the official MVC statistics, and UNI's Austin Phyfe won the rebounding crown with 8.3 rpg.
Also note that Koch Bar averaged 7.3 rpg (4th), and Ja'Shon Henry averaged 6.1 rpg (7th), giving Bradley 3 players in the top 7 in rebounding. No other team had more than 1 player in the Top 10.
And Bradley has 2 players in the top 6 in blocks- Ari Boya with 1.5 bpg and Koch Bar with 1.1 bpg-

Yeah, that must be it. As I posted above, Ja'Shon's scoring and rebounding numbers are #1 among all predominantly non-starters. But he did start 10 MVC games due to the injury to Elijah Childs.
