Probably the best thing Dave has written in 25+ years. Good read.

This has been discussed on this thread already, but it probably isn't a terrible idea to have it's own thread:
Bradley fans like me have agonized over this year's team's free throw shooting a few times. I actually think there might have been a couple of the earlier games that Bradley lost that were related in a big part to poor free throw shooting. But here are the up-to-date statistics among the MVC teams- http://www.mvc.org/mbb/stats/c

Agree with you on this being his best article in quite some time. If Dave doesn't watch it, he just might win over some BU fans with writing like this.

As Dub pointed out, the one downside to the article was that there was no mention of Jim Les, and it would be nice if he would recognize what he did for this university and put whatever disputes they had in the rear view mirror. We can still recognize good things people have done, even when we don't particularly like them, so I hope he does this at some point in the future. There was clearly some bad blood between the two for whatever reason and I'd be willing to guess that Coach knows what they are.

For now, I'll take this and hope for more. If he continues to write articles like that, who knows, I just might start checking in on the PJS sports section regularly again.

Sorry, didn’t see it discussed on another thread. But yeah I agree with you Tommy. It would’ve been nice to acknowledge Jimmy for the Sweet 16 run at least...

Let me preface this by saying I do not want to open a can of worms. This is to piggy back something that DC said in the Dan Muller thread, but figured I would put it here. Has any Bradley men's basketball coach left on their own terms? i.e. a bigger job? I admire Coach Wardle's commitment to doing things "the right way". What he and his staff have brought us fans from is more than commendable. It is simply amazing. To go from a complete roster turnover with 10 Freshman and 1 Sophomore to an NCAA bid in 4 years is somewhat unheard of. Especially when you consider that it was done with a majority of Freshman recruiting class with a sprinkling of JC help. This article talks about Versace's quick turnaround, but also emphasizes his heavy use of JC talent. It also chronicles the firing of 2/3 of these profiled coaches. One from a BS NCAA violation and the other for under performing. Watching from afar, there has to be a handful to a dozen power 6 ADs that are seeing Wardle's success at Bradley.

The last time we were this successful I didn't think too much of Coach Les leaving because of his loyalty to the University. I mean there were rumors of him being "considered" for other jobs, but those mentions quickly dissipated. I know there haven't been many rumors of Coach Wardle being discussed for jobs, but does this eat at anybody else? Also, does Bradley have the resources to counter a Power 6 offer? Can we hold on the Wardle as long as UNI has Jacobson? How happy is Wardle in Peoria? Lastly, how much would losing Coach Wardle impact the program? This seems to be the "elephant in the room" and these are majority hypotheticals, but thoughts that go through my head at least 2-3 times a week, LOL!!! What are your guys' thoughts?

Enjoy it while we have him. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best. BW deserves offers and if it were his desire to go t a bigger program, I would root for him to get it and root for him wherever he landed.

That said, best case scenario is that he loves Peoria and we are able to keep him around for years to come. That goes double for Chris Reynolds.
