  • A healthy Elijah Childs...

Anyone want to put their two cents worth into guessing what our record might be with a healthy Elijah all year? I’m guessing he probably would have added at least 2 more wins. Sure would be nice to win out heading into St.Louis in 2 weeks but it definitely won’t be easy...

Maybe this is overly optimistic, but I think Bradley would have won the games at Indiana State, Loyola, and Drake, so they'd be 22-6, and 13-2.

I don’t think you are Coach. He just adds a whole different dimension to this team. Not sure what everyone else thinks but I say he is probably one of the most talented players we’ve had for quite some time. He can just about do it all plus plays with so much confidence and has that chip on his shoulder refusing to lose which sometimes separates the great players from the average ones. IMO

No doubt Eli has the intangibles. He can will the team to wins and he makes everyone around him better, and I have no doubt we would have had a good shot at winning every game we lost while he was out.

watch his reaction for the 3 or so minutes following the win against MSU for an example. Unbelievable passion.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

We’d be tied for first or alone in first. We’d have won at home against UNI and at least one of the road losses. Looking at it that way paints a fairly optimistic view of how the conference tourney could go down, honestly. Let’s hope we are still this bright and cheerful after Sat night. This is the most important game of the season.

I think Eli was well on his way to 1st team All MVC and possible POY until he got hurt. We were 8-5 without him and it's possible we could have been 10-2 with him. His last 4 games since he's been back are not too shabby: 19 points and 11 rebounds on 7-13 shooting against Evansville, 19 points and 6 rebounds on 9-15 shooting against ISU Blue, 14 points and 9 rebounds on 7-14 shooting against SIU and 15 points and 10 rebounds on 4-6 shooting, 7-10 from the FT line, against Missouri State. Players have to play in 65% of their teams games for their stats to officially count and as of now Eli has played in 16 of Bradley's 28 games which is 57%. If eligible Eli would be 6th in scoring at 14.8, 7th in FG% at 52% and 1st in Rebounds at 9.1. Officially Darrell is tied for 6th in scoring at 14.7, 2nd in assists at 4.4 and tied for 9th in FT% at 79%. Nate is 15th in scoring at 12.3, tied for 8th in steals per game at 1.3 and is 2nd is 3 point% at 44%. Koch is 3rd in rebounding at 7.4 and JaShon is 6th at 6.1. Ari is 2nd in blocked shots at 1.4 and Koch is tied for 5th at 1.1. POY should come down to UNI's
            A. J. Green and Loyola's Cameron Krutwig.

You mentioned Cameron Krutwig, bigjimmy, and I think he is the real Player of the Year. In fact, he maybe should have been the POY the last 2 years as well. He was the main reason Loyola won the MVC and went to the Final Four his freshman year (2017), although Clayton Custer won the POY award. But IMO, Custer was a good role player and the beneficiary of teams frequently double-teaming Krutwig. Krutwig is such a good passer (he leads them in assists by a big margin) it makes their guards look better than they are. The same could be said for Marques Townes last year. IMO Townes was a decent player, but not really a great player. Both Custer and Townes tried their luck with low-level pro teams in Europe, and are doing poorly. They are averaging 5-6 ppg and shooting well below 30% from three with their teams. I am not buying that they were what made Loyola such a good team. And each of them has come and gone, yet Loyola continues to win, primarily because of Krutwig. He might lose out to someone like A.J. Green, but Krutwig is the POY, IMO. When he finally leaves, Loyola will become an average team.
