  • Final score: Valparaiso 90 Bradley 78

    Bradley is now 19-9 and 10-5 in the MVC, and have won 4 games in a row since the return of Elijah Childs. The next game is a road game Saturday night, 7:00 pm at Valparaiso. Valpo is 14-14, 7-8 after their hard fought 77-75 overtime loss at Drake Wednesday night. The game is scheduled to be on ESPN+;

    This is Valparaiso's third season in the MVC since moving from the Horizon League. In 2017-18 they were 15-17, 6-12, and finished 10th. In 2018-19 they were 15-18, 7-11 and finished 9th.

    Bradley and Valparaiso played January 29 in Peoria, and Bradley won 80-69. Bradley played that game without Elijah Childs. Ja'Shon Henry had one of his best games as a Brave that night with 21 points and 9 rebounds in 27 minutes, Bradley shot 53% as a team and 50% from three.
    Peoria, Ill. – Five Braves scored in double figures to lead the Bradley men's basketball team to an 80-69 victory against Valparaiso on Wednesday night at Carver Arena. BU improved to 15-7 during the 2019-20 campaign and 6-3 in Missouri Valley Conference action, while the Crusaders drop to 11-11 and 4-5 versus league foes.

    For anyone thinking of going, the Valparaiso campus is a little less than 3 hours drive from Peoria in northwest Indiana, and there are many tickets sill available. Here is a link for tickets. The Bradley bench is in front of section D. If you click on Section D, it will show the available tickets in that section.-

    Valparaiso has played in the Athletics and Recreation Center since 1984. It seats about 5,000 and was renovated in 2011, but it still is one of the two smallest arenas in the MVC (along with Gentile Arena at Loyola which also seats about 5,000). And the arena itself has the appearance and feeling of a large high school gym. Most of the seats in the arena are bleacher-type bench seats, but sections F, G, H, I, and J across from the team benches are chairback seats. There will be a number of Bradley fans there, so consider joining us!

          This is not going to be easy. Valpo is 9-2 at home this season. Their only 2 home losses all season were a close 66-63 loss to Loyola Dec. 30 in their first MVC game, and a 63-51 loss to UNI on Feb. 5. In the first loss to Loyola, they were without Ryan Fazekas, who was out with a broken hand.

                Hope everyone going over has safe travels and watches another BU win! We are a 1 point underdog which doesn't surprise me considering their home record and our road record. Hopefully we can keep Freeman-Liberty in control and don't bog down on offense. Let's do this boys! GET ER DONE!

                  We're already in Valparaiso. There were no construction or traffic delays anywhere on the routes over to Valpo, and the weather is great- 50 degrees and sunny.

                    66% from 3 pt with 4:31 remaining. No team can beat an opponent that shoots 66% from 3. Crazy.

                      What an amazing display. We weren’t bad defensively. They just made almost every three in the second half that wasn’t a shot clock beater. Not sure the last time I saw a shooting display quite like that. At least Childs had another good stat game?

                        Fazekas and Mcmillan shoot the three. You have to guard them. You don’t you get killed.

                            Stat wise we played pretty well. This loss doesn't bother me that much though, their shooting from the 3 was more of a fluke than anything. We are the better team but sometime a team just gets hot from the 3 and anything can happen.

                              Yes, if you only look st Bradley stats, they look good. And it was a tremendous effort from everyone. And coming into this game, Bradley was #1 in 3-point defense allowing only 29.7%. And Valpo was next to last in 3-point shooting percentage with just 32.5% on the season. So who could have thought they'd go 18-28 for the game and 11-15 in the second half.
