There is a mention in an article this afternoon in the PJ Star about something that might have lead to what the announcers were referring to-

For those who can't see this-
Then in the postgame handshake ritual between the teams, according to several eyewitnesses, Prim roughly shoved his way through the line.

I did not see this, and apparently, few did.

Good article from Dave Reynolds. I'm glad you posted it as I wouldn't have read it otherwise.

Quote: Missouri State coach Dana Ford was obviously displeased at the extreme physical nature of the contest, in which 51 fouls were called.

"I'm not a ref, but I feel the players ran the game," Ford said. "And I don't think it should ever be that way. It was a slugfest. Our guys tried to hang in there as best they could.

"I don't know how that can happen at this level, this big a game on national TV. The players dictated the game from a physicality standpoint. We had to adjust, and I feel our players did a pretty good job."

I found this quote from Dana Ford to be a bit hilarious considering there were 51 fouls (there's not enough time in a game to blow the whistle more than this) called in the game and anyone who was there could easily see that 'physically aggressive' would be the term used to describe MSU and not BU. I think Prim's main move is to stick his elbow in someone (sometimes the head, apparently), and use it to spin. And Ford's halftime interview when asked how he needed to combat the Braves was 'to just play harder', and as we all saw in the pre-game stuff, that's his motto for his team. Now I don't have any problem with playing harder, but to imply that the refs let BU get away with too much while ignoring how much physical contact his team was dishing out is just silly.

Implying that MSU had to adjust their game to the physicality is 100% backward, and frankly, anyone with the last name Ford makes my head hurt anyways.

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.

I agree, it sounds like Ford needs to go watch the game film. You are no longer supposed to be able to hand check yet his players were always touching, grabbing, bumping and pushing our ball handlers, whereas Bradley was playing a few feet off the ball at all times.

You guys realize this is our best conference record (10-5) at this point in the season since 2000-2001 season? We had the same record with 3 games left that season. The 2006 Sweet 16 Braves were 6-7 in conference play before rattling off 7 straight wins to get to the MVC title game!

I don't believe we've been at 20-9 (if we win next game) since maybe the 1995-'96 Valley Champion season! (Can anyone verify?)

It's been many years we've longed to be talking about high seeding in the Valley tourney down the homestretch!
Mostly it's been hoping to stay out of the play-in game on Thursday!

Actually, Bradley was 20-9 for one day in the 2005-06 season. Bradley was 18-9 at the end of the regular season, and improved to 20-9 after winning the quarterfinal and semifinal games of the 2006 MVC Tournament over Creighton & Wichita State. Then the next day, they lost in the championship game to SIU to drop to 20-10 and waited for the NCAA to hand out the at-large bids. Bradley did get the final at-large bid in 2006, won 2 games in Auburn Hills, MI against Kansas and Pitt to improve to 22-10, but then lost to Memphis in Oakland, CA to finish that season 22-11.

But your memory about the 1995-96 season is pretty good. They only lost 8 games that entire season. Bradley was 20-6 at the end of the regular season, and won the first 2 games in the MVC Tournament to improve to 22-6. But they lost the championship game to Tulsa to drop to 22-7. They got an at-large bid and then lost their first game in the Providence, RI Regional to Stanford to end that season 22-8.

I was thinking the same thing as I read Ford's comments. He must have watched a different game because he would know the reason the game was so physical was because his guys swatted at every ball and often knocked down the BU players.
This was a good game for our guys to play though so they have an idea how physical play could get down the road if and when we get into the "Big Dance".
