  • Final score: Bradley 69 SIU 67

Bradley is now 17-9 overall, and 8-5 in the MVC. They play at Southern Illinois Saturday, Feb. 15, at 1:00 pm.in the Banterra Center on the campus of SIU. It is the same arena formerly named SIU Arena that the Salukis have played at since 1964. Naming rights were bought by Banterra Bank, a banking company with many outlets throughout southern Illinois, and it was renamed last May to the Banterra Center. It is the oldest basketball venue still in use in the MVC.

The game will be on the CBSSports Network (channel 963 on Comcast/Xfinity cable).

SIU is 15-11 and 9-4 in the MVC. They are 11-1 at home.
They are coming off a 55-38 loss at Valparaiso- https://siusalukis.com/sports/mens-b.../boxscore/9178
Prior to Wednesday's loss, SIU had won 7 games in a row. Schedule and results-

Bradley beat SIU in their earlier match on January 11 in Peoria, 67-48. Bradley played that game without Elijah Childs-

SIU will not have senior guard Aaron Cook, who broke his hand in their 6th game of the season and has never returned. It was recently announced that he will not attempt a return this season, will take a medical red-shirt, and return to play his final season next year.
Other than Cook, their leading scorer is freshman Marcus Domask (14.5 ppg & 5.3 rpg), who is a leading candidate to become MVC Freshman of the Year, and possible Newcomer of the Year (transfers Gage Prim of MSU and Tate Hall of Loyola also are candidates for NOY).
Other starters include senior guard Eric McGill (11.2 ppg), grad-transfer center Barret Benson (10.7 ppg, 5.7 rpg), freshman guard Lance Jones (7.3 ppg), and grad-transfer guard and former Bradley Brave Ronnie Suggs (5.5 ppg).
SIU's 3-point percentage is 33.4% which ranks 8th in the MVC, and their 62.6 ppg scoring average ranks #10 in the MVC. However, they are the top defensive team in the MVC as measured by points allowed (60.8 ppg).

      As I shared earlier -
SIU is going to be a ticked off set of "Ravaged Salukis Dogs" after the way that they lost to Valpo this past Wednesday night.
The Salukis were 13-of-55 (24%) from the field and 5-of-28 (18%) from the 3-point line. Even at the free throw line, where SIU has been good this year, the Salukis went 7-of-12 (58%).

This is going to be a GREAT TEST for Bradley on a hostile opponents court. The Indiana State game help prep Bradley for tomorrow's (Saturday's) game - building everyone's confidence with Elijah in the line up.

SIU is "not" going to give the Braves the game. The Braves have to "TAKE IT"
(refer to the provided YouTube video)....
      GO BRAVES !!!

We have not won a road game against a good team all season. Our 2 "big" road wins are K State(9-15) and MOST(12-14). IMO if we don't win this game our chances of winning it all in St. Louis is slim. I know better to say this is the Key game of the season, so I'll say it's a critical game.lol Play hard and smart, get the win, and we'll have some good momentum for the rest of the season.

            GO BRADLEY

              Astute commentary, elmerb!

Very true. Our guards haven't shot well on the road this year, at all. On the bright side, Eli was only available in 3 of those games: St. Joes, Memphis, and UNI, and the St. Joe's and UNI games could have easily been won. Also remember, Eli did re-injure his finger in the UNI game.

I have a lot of hope after the last 2 home games where DB has started to look like his old self. We can only hope that having Eli back has taken the pressure he may have been feeling off of him and by playing looser, maybe he can start scoring and running the offense like we know he's capable.

I believe BU is far and away the most talented team in the conference when we're fully healthy. With the additional playing time that guys like Henry, AT, and Ari were able to get while Eli was out is only going to make us that much tougher to beat going forward. This team is DEEP (but we do need Eli!)!

I've got a theory that if you give 100 percent all of the time, somehow things will work out in the end.
