  • Other former Bradley players playing abroad

I didn't want to ignore the several other former Bradley players playing abroad.

Other than Marcellus Sommerville, who just signed to play in France, and Zach Andrews, who just signed to play in Spain--

Eddie Cage, who played the last 2 years in England for the Sheffield Sharks, has signed to play professionally in Spain. He will play for BASQUET MURO of the ESP-LEB league, which is the same league Zach Andrews will play in.--

Phillip Gilbert, who played in England 2 years ago and played for the Peoria Kings last year, apparently has not signed anywhere, yet for 2007-2008.

Tony Bennett last played in the ABA for the Rock River Fury. No information what TB will be doing in 2007-2008.--
Basketball, News, Teams, Scores, Stats, Standings, Awards

Jason Faulknor last played in 2006-2007 for the QUAD CITY RIVERHAWKS of the ABA. He has not signed anywhere for 2007-2008. --

Angelo Flanders, who played for Jim Molinari, played 2006-2007 for POWER LIEFMANS WEVELGEM of the Belgian pro league. It doesn't look like he has signed for 2007-2008.--
Basketball, News, Teams, Scores, Stats, Standings, Awards

James Gillingham will play for his 4th season this fall for TBB Trier in the German pro league. Note that Kyle Wilson (formerly of Wichita State) will join him this year on the team.--

Aba Koita has had a long career in the French pro league. He played last year for LE PUY ASM, but has not signed a comtract yet for 2007-2008.--
Basketball, News, Teams, Scores, Stats, Standings, Awards

Jeff Rabey played last spring for the Grand Rapids Flight of the IBL--

Jerome Robinson has played the last couple years in France for ETENDARD DE BREST, after a couple years in Austria and Belgium. But the team's website lists him as having left the team after last season. There is no information where he will play this fall.--

Basketball, News, Teams, Scores, Stats, Standings, Awards

And Lawrence Wright is still touring with the Harlem Globetrotters.--

And Nate Funk is reportedly headed to play pro in Germany this fall.

Hey--let's not forget Adebayo Akinkunle.....not sure if he's still playing in Europe.
Bayo, seen here in this picture:

was with BCJ Hamburg Tigers at least up until recently, and made the North All Star team in the 99er BBL (Basketball Bundesliger League)

Indiana State's David Moss, who played in Poland last season and averaged 12ppg, 5 rpg, 44.4% on 3-pointers,
has now signed to play this coming season for Fileni Bpa Jesi (in the top Italian League) who finished 2nd last year.
There are two other Americans on his team, Ryan Hoover (Notre Dame) and Anthony Mastranzi (NIU).

SIU's Darren Brooks, who played last year in Puerto Rico, has signed with BG 74 GOETTINGEN. in the top German League,
there are six other Americans on his team.

Bayo was one of the ex-BU guys I checked out. It seems he did not play professionally last year, and is not signed anywhere for this coming year. According to the Eurobasket site, he last played in 2005 in Germany.

He may have retired from pro ball.

Bayo has a job in Chicago right now. I had a chance to talk to him briefly and he did say he plans to play ball over seas in the fall. I didn't get any more details than that...since he was working.

On a side note, he was genuinely excited to talk about basketball and seemed like a super nice guy.

I suspect there may be others, but that is as complete a list as you'll find on the internet. Some guys never keep in touch with their former school, so there may be no way to know where they are or if they are still playing.

Guys like Joah Tucker aren't listed as Bradley guys, since they transferred. Tucker played in France last year.

If anyone knows of other ex-Bradley guys who are still playing for money, let us know.

Well, I was kinda trying to be just a little funny.

The list doesn't have Cable, Carney, Kuberski, Les, McMillon, Phegley, Smith, Strawder, Tart, Walker or Williams.

And if it is only a list of current pro players then I didn't know Hawkins, Voice, or JJ Anderson were still playing.

Phillip Gilbert signed a contract to play for Clermont of the French Pro A League, according to this release from the Bradley Athletic Dept. back in June.--

A pair of transactions headline today's Braves in the Pros update.? Usually they are up to date, but they must have missed that one. On the official website of the Clermont team, Phillip is listed--

Funk graduated from Creighton University (NCAA1) and averaged 17.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3 assists per contest in 2006-2007.
