I really liked the way Gabriel played and the potential he showed but if he was not adhering to team rules I totally support Wardle in dealing with it. I hope he learns from this and goes on to have a successful career and most importantly earns a good education elsewhere. Now we need to work on finding an athletic slasher while we recruit. We now have 2 scholarships to fill. Lots of new faces next year-could be 7 between transfers already on campus, Reink sitting out, already signed recruits plus the two available scholarships now available.

I would really stay away from any thought of Reink playing this year. He has had very limited practice time and is recovering/getting comfortable from a significant injury. I think one of the unfortunate things from last year is we did not redshirt Ari. If the Ari we see today was a redshirt Freshman it would be a godsend.

Yes, the redshirt rule only applies to players who play in less than a total of 30% of the team's scheduled games, and not after the midway point in the schedule.
I believe Game 16 (The Jan. 8 game at Evansville) would be the last game he could play in and still qualify for a medical redshirt.

Bradley now has 2 open scholarships for the 2020 recruiting year. That number could change, but if it remains at 2, I expect our coaches to target another point guard and a wing player with the 2 scholarships.
Here is the updated scholarship grid-

Kingsby did have some issues in his past, but I hope this is just an aberration, and that it gets straightened out.
I guess I didn't know about Gabriel's sketchy past...what had he been involved in?
I thought he was a fairly quiet kid with a strong work ethic (???)
          Guess that's not the case.

I liked Gabriel as the rest of you did. But better to send a message to the rest of the team like this from Coach Wardle.
          Very much respect that.

I like Kingsby a whole lot and hope this is just a small bump in the road with no more issues. He brings so much energy, enthusiasm, and good b-ball IQ.
He could be a much-needed Senior next year.

I don’t know about Gabriel’s past. What did we know about him before he became a Brave?

There is nothing bad in his past, but he did end up at 3 different prep schools last year (Hillcrest in Phoenix, Veritas Prep in California, and NTSI prep in Florida). He was at each prep school for a couple months, but played in only a few games at each one before moving on. There were never any reports of why he didn't play much or why he moved multiple times, and I don't want to make presumptions, but kids who move frequently often do have issues.

As Da Coach said he had switched to 3 different prep schools. I think that was a really bad sign for him sticking around here for very long. I really liked his play and aggressiveness and its a shame he was dismissed from the team but I trust that Wardle is doing the right thing. I wish him the best of luck wherever he ends up.

                  Thanks for the info, guys.

Definitely sad circumstance for all involved, including us, the fans. I was really looking forward to seeing this kid grow at BU. He was so aggressive toward the rim and I think he was really going to be special by the time he got to be a senior.

Be curious to see where he lands, and how he performs once he gets there. I hope for his sake that he can mature and not waste the talent he's been blessed with!

                    Multiple first half suspensions.

Since Rienk Mast has redshirted this season shouldn't the scholarship grid show he will have 4 years eligibility after this season? Is there a reason our 2nd walk-on (Riley Burger) does not dress for the games?

                        Yes, corrected. Thanks.
Riley Burger was sitting out with an injury. I have not seen or heard anything different recently, so I assume that is still the case.

One other thing to consider, and I am not suggesting I have any information about a mid-year transfer.... but Bradley now has an extra scholarship, and could consider a mid-year transfer. There are already about 100 Division I players who have put their names into the NCAA Transfer Portal, including at least one who Bradley recruited in the past. Here is the current list, and it contains 25 point guards and maybe some who could help Bradley-

Unless there is a waiver, any of those players would have to sit out 2 full semesters before they would become eligible. Mid-year transfers have to sit out the 2nd semester at the school they transfer to, plus the first semester of the following year. The 2nd semester at Bradley doesn't officially start until January 22.

At least our other 2 freshmen, Antonio and Ville have matured of late and have become a big part of our success the last 2 games since Stephan's departure.

                            Injury update-
Elijah Childs had his rigid cast removed from his right hand, and was wearing only a small wrap that bound his middle & ring fingers together. He appeared to be using the right hand normally. So let's hope he is close to returning, like maybe Saturday?

Riley Burger was wearing a boot on his foot & ankle, and was also using a scooter to avoid weigh bearing. He has been out all season with some an injury, but might have had recent surgery (or possibly a reinjury) that set him back.

Also, Coach Jimmy Foster was back using a rolling scooter again. He had an injury near the end of last season that required him to wear a boot and use the scooter, then underwent surgery before this season to correct a slow healing process, and went back to using the boot and scooter. He finally was walking normally, but now is using the scooter again. He's been battling his foot or ankle problem for almost a year. I hope he gets healed soon!

The NCAA transfer portal is showing Gabriel as transferring to Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson Kansas. A good JUCO program. Hope he straightens stuff out and does well.
