    for POB?

  • #2
The Warriors have bought out the outrageous contract they had given center Adonal Foyle (thanks for the link MR).

Ordinarily this would be good for the other centers vying for playing time. But the Warriors have several other post players, including a couple they just recently signed. Combine that with Don Nelson's tendency to play much of the time without a true post player, and I doubt this makes much difference in POB's case.

POB would probably be better off if GS bought out his contract, he's going nowhere in that organization I'm afraid. I just hope he can get a chance somewhere else, I'd feel a lot better if he could dominate the D-League though!

The NBA collective bargaining agreement sets the guaranteed salaries for 1st round picks. That means that there would be no "buying out" allowed. They would have to pay off his entire 2nd year salary, and then cut him loose.

POB....put your time in, work hard, save your money and play elsewhere after the contract is done....

I just meant POB would be better off elsewhere, not meaning to say that a buyout of his contract was possible.

The last article mentions "and possibly Patrick O'Bryant." This is a huge year for Patrick's NBA career. He may have problems hooking on elsewhere with another 31% FG, 1.9/1.3 type season. The league will see him as either (a) not motivated enough to work (Nelson's past comments) or (b) not talented enough, and there are other bigs who can put up nominal #'s (the Dalibor Bagaric's of the world). That said, I think he has the talent to at least reach the type of play that guarantees a long journeyman career.

Agreed. I think that the only thing that is good for POB is if he decides to work his but off to force them to play him or trade him. The bottom line is that he just is not that good of an NBA player right now. I think he's in danger of landing in Europe, but he could probably come back just like Parker.
