      Question for all

Is losing Matt R. a real big loss? I know we all want to be selected by every recruit but I question how key he is to our future. Seems to me that we can do better with the scholarship than Matt. I am confident that there are some quality players under the radar that can make a big difference too our future that we can get but it's going to take a lot of work.

I do think that we need to watch what affect losing some good players will have on our staff and their ability to attrack future top players too. I think that being close but not closing the deal could hurt us. We will need to land a big recruit soon in order to validate us.

Having said that I still think we are in good shape but selling the dream will get harder if we don't succeed on the court this year

I think the staff should keep doing exactly what they're doing. Nobody likes "losing out" on a recruit, but it's a remarkable step forward that Bradley is now ROUTINELY being considered by high-profile recruits. Even if we lose those battles, there's not much downside to being mentioned constantly by recruits, recruiting services, and fan message boards. The name is getting out. So even if we lose some more of these battles, I hope we keep fighting them. Sooner or later, one of these kids is going to choose Jim Les.

As for Roth, I said months ago I don't want the kid. That's not meant to slam him, but he's not a good fit for BU.

As for the future, Maniscalco, Egolf, Thompson form an exceptional core to build around. That affords BU the luxury of recruiting very deliberately and casting a wide net. It's not like there's some kind of emergency to get that "impact" player on campus; they're already here and will be for the next four years.

i would have liked to see Roth in a bradley uniform, but am not heart broken he won't be coming here. He's a nice player and I wish him the best. I hope he does great at wherever he ends up.

I agree with what you are saying. But how many of us would be flattered if the best looking woman wanted us! Most of us would want to give it a fling. Maybe we would end up crawling back to our original spouse eventually.

I was one of those who felt that MR would be a difference maker at BU. I still believe in our present offensive scheme that he would have been huge. However, I don't see this as the end for BU, JL and the staff have done a great job of recruiting and I believe that they wont bat an eye at this and already have other recruits on the radar.
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.

I guess I'm a little surprised .....I thought MR would really end up on the Hilltop.........good luck to him..........but I think the Braves would have been the best fit overall!

I am not sure this info is correct....I heard again that he has not decided yet, but was enamored(big word heh?) with IU...

Guess we will see very soon....

I can just imagine every "3" he hits for BU would errupt the crowd......at IU it would be a polite "golf" smattering of applause

Here is a link to a blog by a recruiting expert who writes for the Louisville Courier-Journal. He called Matt Roth and got the story directly from him. Matt Roth said he was down to 2 schools, St. Louis and Indiana. I hope this is not correct, but I think this source is reliable.--

Here is the full story of the interview Matt Roth gave to this journalist who specializes in basketball recruting. Matt sounds like he truly hasn't decided between Indiana or St. Louis, but that clearly Bradley is no longer in the picture. In fact, notice the complete absence of any mention of Bradley in these last 2 articles.

Roth said he has ???‚¬?“been back and forth 1,000 times,???‚¬?? on his feelings about the pending decision and right now doesn???‚¬?„?t have a favorite between the two schools.

It has been pretty obvious for a long time Roth really had no true interest in Bradley and only kept BU on his list as an option, which is fine. I am sure JL and staff were aware that he wasnt really to interested. And would not be surprised if they have not moved off of Roth many weeks or even months ago.

Even if he wasnt interested in BU his keeping our name out there for a long period of time keeps BU's name in mention whenever anyone reads about Roth.

I do see the intrigue about Indiana but I do not get it with SLU. Majerus is a name but the school's program and the conference they play in are not equal to BU or the MVC. I would be very interested in how much "effort/attention JL and staff have shown to Roth in the past 6 weeks.

Maybe part of his decision is wanting to live away from home to get that college experience? I'm just speculating here.

I know I did when I went to BU. Peoria was a 15 hr or so drive from my parents' home.

Good luck to Matt wherever he ends up.

According to todays PJS..........Washington coach Kevin Brown says MR will be visiting the Hilltop today ........so the internet article is not correct .......MR is still considering the Braves!
