  • Just 6 % More - Memphis Post Game Insights

Everyone I could not agree more with all of your Memphis "post game" posts.

I know that there are loads of "after game analysis" and plenty of "what ifs". But I also agree if there was a barn out on the Memphis court chances are the Braves couldn't hit it last night.

Even if we shot still a miserable 33% instead of 27% and sank just 2 more of our 3 point attempts - the result would have been different and Bradley still would not have played it's best game of the year - but they would have won.

I am totally lost for words regarding Darrel and Nate's cold streak (they are either hot or cold - together 0 for 12 from 3 and 2 for 24 - come on ???)

Koch Bar slipped up a few times. I was shocked when a Memphis player (likely a freshman or sophomore) just came up to Bar (a senior) and literally - like a cat - stripped the ball out of Bar's hands. And Bar was 0-6 with 3 rebounds.

I was pleased with Kingsby's play and also pleasantly surprised with some of Boya's play.

And of course - thank goodness for Elijah Childs - we not only get this season but also next season with Elijah.

Memphis is "not" that tough. A "tad" better game by the Braves (not their best game) would have resulted with a likely win. The Braves could have made some national basketball noise and missed their opportunity. There is a "ton" of basketball left. I hope the Darrell Brown of last year shows up this year.... I believe he will and Nate will also come back.

As Ben Jacobson knows and likely everyone else - the first goal of every MVC team is to finish the regular season in the top six heading into the MVC tournament. The Valley regular season title is nice - but last season which MVC trophy do you think Drake and Loyola really wanted to hoist.

Coach Wardle is preparing his team giving each player minutes - giving them time to refine their skills before the MVC regular season begins.

I TRULY LOOK FORWARD TO THE REST OF THE REGULAR SEASON and continually getting better. Like last season - The Valley is truly up for grabs by virtually any team. GO BRAVES !!!.

As I wrote after the KSU game, if Nate is hitting the team likely will win. That was never more evident than last night when neither Nate or Darrell could hit anything. Most of their shots were not in and outs, but were not even hitting the rim. Last night both of them looked more like high school freshmen rather than college seniors. They are both much better players than what they showed last night. Both are hard workers so I expect to see Nate and Darrell putting in some extra time in the gym working on their shooting. Learning how to use the backboard could increase their shooting percentage about 15 points also, but the players today don’t think using the board is “cool”.

Please enlighten me on how DB or NK are going to use the backboard when shooting 3's.. I'll listen.

Dave Reynolds in his December 4th Peoria Journal Star sports section also shares the same views as all of us. Bradley shot extremely poor - Darrel and Nate were not themselves. If both of them just had an "average game" - the outcome likely would have been different.

The article also shares what Wardle stated on his post game radio show - all the stats were in Bradley's favor except for shooting percentage.

I guess the only remedy is "practice practice practice" to regain one's confidence.

        GO BRAVES !!!!
