I have noticed a few unusually low-scoring games so far in D1, and I saw this tweet a short time ago by college basketball guru Ken Pomeroy-

In just the first 9 days of the 2019-20 season, there have already been more games in which a D1 team scored 35 points or less than there were in the last 4 entire seasons!
Could it be an effect from the Power 6 teams only willing to play lowest-of the low-majors to guarantee they won't lose?
Could it be the longer 3-point line? I can't believe that accounts for these low-scoring games. But if it is a factor, I doubt this is what the NCAA wanted.

Number of times a D-I team has failed to score 35 points, by season:
2016: 5
2017: 4
2018: 3
2019: 5
2020: 6 (through 9 days)
