IUPUI (0-0) plays their first 2019-20 game tonight at Butler- Their game is on FS2, if you can get it.
    Here is a Preview- https://iupuijags.com/news/2019/11/5...er-on-fs2.aspx

They played one exhibition game on Oct. 23 against Division II Tiffin University, which was 10-18, 6-14 last season, and IUPUI won a close game 81-77. IUPUI shot pretty well (49.2%, 42.9% from three), but they had 27 turnovers. They started 4 guards, and a 6'7" forward.

Butler easily beat IUPUI in their game tonight 80-47. IUPUI never lead as Butler pulled away, outscoring IUPUI 44-21 in the second half.
    https://butlersports.com/boxscore.as...mbball&id=9315

IUPUI is not a very good 3-point shooting team. They were just 3-21 (14%) from three, and 1-10 in the 2nd half.
Butler is not projected to a great team. They were picked 8th out of 10 teams in the Big East preseason poll. And they were missing 6 or 7 of their regular players for this game. 5 were out with injuries, including Valpo grad-transfer Derrik Smits. An,d another player left the game after playing less than 1 minute and didn't return. Another projected starter was out on a suspension for playing in an unsanctioned game over the summer. I think the announcers said Butler was down to 6 scholarship players.

IUPUI only played 7 players in the game despite the huge blowout, and only 6 players scored. So, they must have serious depth issues, too. Only 2 players made 3-point shots (those two were 3-18 ). And, only one IUPUI player scored in double digits- Marcus Burk, a 6'3" junior guard who scored 31 points in IUPUI's exhibition win on Oct. 23, was their leading scorer against Butler with 17 points, but he was just 7-21 overall and 2-11 from three. Their rebounding was spread out among their players with nobody having more than 5 rebounds. And, no starters had more than 1 assist.

These next 4 games at home are important to get after the disappointing loss on opening night. Come home and smoke these guys and we'll all feel a little bit better.

They seemed to lack depth and size. Butler didnt seem that great. We should score 100 and win by 40. I look for 25 to 30 mins of aggressive dominance from Childs and Brown . Set the tone for dominating at Carver.

Bradley did not seem to have a set line-up for much of the St Johns game. That seemed to be the situation last year for the first 20 or so games. I hope that this year the team does not need 20 games to figure out who the top 5-6 players are. If the team can get settled after Ari returns, I think they can have a good season.

Old Guy, I agree. I am not trying to be critical of the coaching moves, but I believe sometimes too many substitutions can hurt a team, especially when the players on the floor are playing very well together. IMO, that is when you stick with the same 5 guys for as long as you can.

Need to absolutely blow these guys out of the water and prove the last game was a fluke.

I am less concerned about a blow out, and more concerned about just getting a win to start to build confidence.

Normally I agree with this moderate sentiment. Get the win. However, last year's game at IUPUI was perhaps the most frustrating game I've ever watched and as a result, I want a blood-letting this Saturday night.

                    Pregame article from BradleyBraves.com-
                    https://bradleybraves.com/news/2019/...me-opener.aspx

                    Note these two promotions-
                    • Prior to Saturday's game, the 2019 Valley Champions will be recognized with the unveiling of the team's wall banner at Carver Arena. (Get there early!)
                    • Saturday is Peoria Night. Any fan with a Peoria address can present their driver's license at the box office on game day for two white level tickets for 50% off.

One interesting line from the article... it says:
                    SERIES HISTORY
                    • The Braves and Jaguars have played seven times previously – alternating wins with each school winning three times.

Obviously, their math doesn't quite add up. As noted in the top post, they have played each other 6 times before, not 7.
But they are correct that the record is 3-3.

I feel what we need is a defensive stopper. We had 2 of them last year in DLO and Brummett. DLO of course graduated but Brummett leaving was unexpected and his replacement (McAdoo) has to sit out. Without a lockdown defender a crafty Ryan Daly went off on us and we were searching for answers. Who’s going to step into that role? Tonio? Ville? Gabriel certainly has the tools.

Henry or Kingsby , i think have the best shot at the shutdown defender role. We gotta play much better team D and without fouling. Move your feet and keep your hands up.
