  • Missouri Valley Conference Tournament in St. Louis

The current 5-year agreement between the MVC and St. Louis to hold the Arch Madness MVC Tournament at the Enterprise Center will expire after the 2020 Tournament.
The MVC has been negotiating to sign a new deal for the host of Arch Madness, and now the MVC announced this morning that an official announcement regarding the tournament is scheduled for next Monday, Nov. 4, in St. Louis, to be held at the Enterprise Center. There is no official word what the announcement will be, but it seems virtually certain that the MVC will renew its deal with St. Louis and the Enterprise Center. The specific details will be known Monday.

The current agreement dates back to 2015 when it was renewed for 3 years with a 2-year option. The option took the deal to 2020-
The State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament will remain in St. Louis through at least 2020, MVC Commissioner Doug Elgin has announced.

2020 will be the 30th straight year the MVC Tournament will be played in St. Louis. In the past, when the agreements were set to be renegotiated, there have usually been multiple other cities making attractive offers to the MVC to lure the tournament away from St. Louis.
Prior to the 2015 agreement, St. Louis, Kansas City, Chicago, and Las Vegas all were interested. Other cities have made offers in earlier years such as Des Moines, Omaha, Indianapolis, and others.

However, this time, there have not been any reports about whether there have been other offers. And, all the MVC schools seem happy with the St. Louis location, as well as how well things have worked out with the city of St. Louis and the Enterprise Center. So, it seems likely the announcement next Monday will keep the tournament in St. Louis. Especially since the announcement is being held at the Enterprise Center! If the MVC had any intention of pulling out of St. Louis, I don't believe there is any way the announcement would be held there.

Kansas City might have made more sense when Creighton and Wichita were in the league, but with the current footprint STL makes the most sense. Enterprise is getting a nice makeover, the ballpark area is great and Union Station might be coming back. So, good news.

The MVC made their official announcement, and as expected, they have extended their agreement to hold the MVC Tournament in St. Louis at the Enterprise Center through 2024-
