            Halftime: Minnesota State 18 - SIU 17
SIU is really struggling to score. They are 7-27 from the field (25.9%), and 1-9 from three (11.1%) in the 1st half.
The Saluki's leading scorer is freshman Marcus Domask with 9 points, and Senior Eric McGill has 5 points, senior guard Aaron Cook has 2 points, and grad-transfer Ronnie Suggs has 1 point and 4 rebounds. Those are the only 4 players to score for SIU.
Heralded 6'10" grad-transfer from Northwestern, Barrett Benson has not shown much despite playing against a relatively small D2 team. He played 12 minutes, and has NO points and 2 rebounds. SIU was outrebounded 21-20 by Minnesota State.

Final score: SIU 56 Minnesota State 41
              https://siusalukis.com/sidearmstats/...dual;team=home
SIU had a much better 2nd half. They came out with more of a plan to get the ball inside, and not look for three pointers (they were only 1-9 on threes in the 1st half). They only attempted 3 three-pointers in the 2nd half and were 1-3. They shot 50% (14-28 ) overall in the 2nd half and outscored Minnesota State 39-23, after trailing 18-17 at halftime.
For the game, SIU was 21-55 (38.2%), and 2-12 (16.7%) from three.
Leading scorers were Marcus Domask with 17 (he will be one of the best freshmen in the MVC this year), Eric McGill 17, Aaron Cook 6, and Ronnie Suggs 5. Northwestern transfer Barrett Benson finished with 4 points, 3 rebounds.

Truman State leads Illinois State 39-26 at halftime in their exhibition game tonight at ISU.
The difference is poor shooting by ISU. They shot just 10-33 (30.3%) and 2-14 (14.3%) from three in the first half, while Truman State shot 17-33 (51.5%) and 3-12 (25.0%) from three.
                  Stats-

Truman State is a Division II school that competes in the GLVC (Great Lakes Valley Conference). They finished last year at 14-15, 9-9, and were picked to finish this season in the middle of the 14 team conference.

It was reported that junior starting forward for ISU Keith Fisher III (San Jose St. transfer), who started and was 0-6 from the field, left the game and finished the first half on the bench. He was said to be having breathing problems.
He also did not start the 2nd half like he did the 1st half. In fact, he did not return from the locker room after halftime.

Edit: Fisher did return to the ISU bench midway through the 2nd half, but has not played. Truman State now leads just 53-52 with 8 minutes left as ISU has caught fire and Truman State is in a 1-11 shooting slump.

Illinois State shot much better in the 2nd half (58%), and came back. Truman State still lead by one with under 2 minutes left, but ISU made their last 7 FG attempts of the game to pull ahead and hold on for a 74-68 win.

The Evansville-Southern Indiana game is going to overtime tied 59-59
Evansville took a 1 point lead with a free throw with about 1 minute left in the game.
The game stayed that way with Evansville leading 58-57 until Evansville turned the ball over and then fouled with 5 seconds left in the game. It sent USI to the free throw line and they made both FTs to take a 59-58 lead with 5 seconds left. But USI fouled and sent Evansville to the FT line with 2 second left, where they made 1 of 2 to tie the game 59-59.

In addition to the Millikin game at Bradley tonight, there is one other exhibition game involving an MVC team.
Loyola will host University of Indianapolis at 7 pm. U of Indy is a pretty good Division II team. They were 19-10 last year, and 12-6 in the GLVC. They were picked 5th in the GLVC Preseason poll among the 14 members. It should be a good test for Loyola.
Bellarmine has been selected to win the 2018-19 GLVC men’s basketball title, it was announced by the Conference office Tuesday.  The annual GLVC Men’s Basketball Preseason Poll was voted on by the league coaches and ranks all 14 teams in predicted order of finish.
