Good for Barry, but I was hoping he would stay around the Valley.

Back in 2016, Barry signed an extension with SIU through 2020 which paid him $350,000 per year plus some bonus incentives.

Last March, after SIU was eliminated from the MVC Tournament, it was reported that it was a mutual decision by Barry and the SIU AD. But, according to the link above, there is a $175,000/year buyout (Hinson's original base salary at SIU) if SIU ended the contract early.
So, Barry should still be getting paid quite nicely by SIU for this year.

Good for Barry..... The Valley is going to miss a top notch coach who had such a wit about himself... Everyone looked forward to the luncheons when Barry was speaking.

In 2006 Missouri State coached by Barry was snubbed by the NCAA even though they had a RPI of 21.... Simply incredible..

I am including a interesting article - web link - explaining how the 2006 NCAA selection committee would not allow a fifth team from the MVC -
a mid-major conference - when other Power 5 conferences were only going to have fewer teams. Just a continuing example of life not being fair.

Well good for Barry - I hope someday he gets to coach another Division 1 school.
I know many Missouri State basketball fans were shocked and appalled when the Bears didn't hear their name called on Selection Sunday. This fan was not one of them.

That is still the single biggest snub in NCAA Tournament selection committee history. No team has ever been snubbed for an at-large bid with an RPI that low (21). The next lowest RPI team to be snubbed is Colorado State in 2015 with an RPI of 29.
Ironically, Missouri State and Barry also got snubbed the following season (2006-07) with an RPI of 36, still one of the best RPI's to ever get snubbed. By comparison, the lowest RPI by a Power 6 Conference team to ever get snubbed was RPI 40 by Cincinnati, when they were a member of the Big East.

But the fact is, and as BU_Braves suggested, if Missouri State had been given that bid, Bradley would not have gotten a bid. The committee simply was not going to extend more than 4 bids to the MVC. If MSU had gotten that bid, Bradley's terrific 2006 NCAA Tournament run with wins over #4 seed, 25-win and Big 12 Champion Kansas and #5 seed, 25-win Pitt and the entire 2006 Sweet 16 run would never have had a chance to happen.

Would not mind seeing him at Indiana State when they finally get rid of Loser Lansing. Lansing's last dance ticket was in his first season 9 YEARS AGO. Hoping this is his last season holding the Sycamores contract hostage.

Lansing's unbelievable perpetual yearly rollover deal that always assured he had 4 more years on his contract every season was finally voided in 2017 by the AD then Sherard Clinkscales. So now he is down to just 2 more years on the current contract. Unless he has great success this season, Indiana State could fire him after this season and would only have to buy out one year's salary (said to be around $250,000). It will be interesting to see what happens. Not many people think they have a team this year that will compete for the top of the MVC.

Hope this happens. He would do really well inheriting Key and Neese instead of the dumpster fire he rebuilt at his last stop. Barry belongs in the Valley, should’ve been hired as announcer or by MVC office this year.
