  • 4 to watch in the valley this season

Interesting story on 4 players to watch for different reasons.
Childs is one of the 4. I didn't see this posted elsewhere so forgive me if it was.

I follow Harry Schroeder who does a great job writing about the MVC for his blog valleyhoops.com. I suggest Bradley fans follow him on twitter (https://twitter.com/FatherHarry1).

Four Players With Something to Prove

His thoughts are interesting, but in this case, I might disagree a little. Of the 4 "potential impact players" with "something to prove" (Childs, Jordan Barnes, Austin Phyfe, and Lucas Williamson), only one is already an impact player, who, unlike the other 3, has pretty well proven himself already- Elijah Childs.
Childs was the only one who was All Conference last season, and he was also the MVP of the MVC Tournament and lead Bradley to the championship. He was also the MVP of the Cancun Challenge, leading Bradley to the championship there, as well.
Childs is the leading returning rebounder in the MVC (7.8 rpg), and a top 10 returning scorer who averaged more in MVC play than any of the others mentioned in the article. He will also be 1st team All MVC in the 2019-20 preseason polling, I predict.
He is already a star, so, unlike the other 3, Childs has nothing to prove, IMO.

I think as I read it he would agree with you that Child's is already a force to be reckoned with. I took his comments to mean for Child's to take the next step toward a possible NBA career he needs to be that played every night. That's not a criticism of a young player, but the next step in his continued development.
